Hello everyone,

Thanks to this forum I was able to replace the starter in my Titan. I replaced it because occasionally I would turn the key and hear one click and the starter wouldn't turn the engine over. Turning the key repeatedly would eventually result in the starter working and the engine starting. So I replaced the starter last weekend. The new starter works great, spins the engine over much faster than the old one. So I'm thinking I've got this fixed.

Wrong.

Today I got in the truck to leave work, and the same thing happened.

I am confident that I got the electrical connections on the starter back together correctly and tight. My battery has a date code of February 2013. I have no idea if the IPDM has been replaced in this truck or not, as I bought the truck used a couple of years ago. I will add that this week once my keyless entry would not unlock the doors until after I hit the lock button (they locked again) and then hit unlock. I have had random electrical issues in the past that pointed to a battery going bad and am wondering if that is the case, that maybe starting the old starter wore it out faster than normal? It's also been very hot here this summer and I know heat can kill a battery prematurely.

My thoughts are to have the battery tested, and if there is a question, replace it. If I replace the battery and the problem comes back, could it be the IPDM?

Thanks in advance.

Bad batteries wreak all sorts of havok on titans. And yours being 3 years old, I would definitely replace it.

They have been known to do VERY weird things to our trucks, from doors locking themselves, windows rolling them selves down, CEL coming on, etc etc.

I would start there.

Took the truck to the local auto parts store and got a new battery. Hooked it up, and... click.
Long story short, I missed checking the nut on the positive terminal cable under the cover. It was loose. Tightened it and it started right up.

Not feeling very smart right now because I probably didn't need to swap my starter. But at least it is new now.

Thanks everyone.
