Put my new JVC AVX706 HU in yesterday...system is nowhere near being complete, but this is where I started. I'll be wiring in a SWI-ALP as well as an amp and 10" sub over the next week or two...
The AVX706 is a beaut. The only thing missing is navigation, but I don't really need it - not to mention you can pick this sucker up for $525 if you look around (paid a bit less for mine thanks to some credit card 'points').
iPod integration is pretty good - not as slick as Alpine's 2006 implementation - but definitely fully functional. DVDs look great too, although I probably won't watch too many. I do figure I'll pump the video back to rear monitors once kids come along. It also features some decent audio controls, including a 7-band EQ (not too shabby). One nice feature is the SD slot, but I doubt I'll use it that much with the iPod always there.
I used the XE double-din bezel. The top of the unit sits back about 1/4", and the bottom about 5/8". I'm going to shim the bottom out a little to even it out, then put some black foam around the back edge of the bezel opening to take up the gap. Right now I'm using the second of seven angled positions to bring the screen out even with the contour of the bezel.
Startup screen:
Shutdown screen:
Open:
iPod Playback:
iPod Adapter Install (inside console behind storage bin):
Ran the iPod interface cable through a slot I cut in the console bin, and then mouted an iPod 'clip' up top. Works great!
Video:
Here's a couple videos I took - MP3 playback off the iPod, and Madagascar off DVD:
(Warning -They're a bit large!)
iPod Playback
Madagascar
I'll post more on the system as it comes along....
Later!
Tom
