2004-07 Problems VS 2008+ problems

The first couple of years for the T were not very good and they were riddled with problems. Did Nissan fix all the problems by the 2008 model year or are there still problems with the Titans of 2008+ that nissan needs to address? If so, what are the general problems of the 2008+ Ts?
Thanks

I haven't had any problems with my 08, nor have I heard much about major reoccuring issues with the newer models. A couple things that they fixed were the rear-ends, bigger brakes, and stronger shackles. There may be others, but I'm sure someone else will add on to that list. Its a good reliable truck as far as my experience has been.

I think a lot of problems were blown out of proportion since this is a place where people come to for help, but that's my opinion. So far, my 06 has been very reliable and has been to the dealer only twice for warranty work (both manifolds, rear seals, leaking front shocks just to see if they would replace them and they did without question) in its 76K miles. As for the 08's+, as far as I know all of the "major" problems have been taken care of and I really haven't heard about any other problems with them. People who have switched from an 04-07 to an 08+ have said they feel much more solid.

BTW, CR, how did that whole lawsuit thing go with your T?

The only things i've had to take mine back for is the leaking a/c duct thing where it was leaking onto the passenger floor and warped rotors. Both were fixed with no questions asked and have been fine since then. I don't really consider the rotors warping nissans fault because that's something that many, many vehicles have happen to them. You can warp a rotor as simple as hitting a puddle after a long stop. I've never owned or even driven any other titan but I love mine and it does feel solid as can be (much nicer than my 02 f-150) and i've let a few of my close friends borrow it and they always have good things to say about it when they return it.

Ive had to have my truck in the shop to replace the left rear springs, and will have to replace the right side soon enough. My pinion seal popped, then my rear diff started heading south. This will be replaced Tuesday. My brakes continue to squeak like no ones business despite having the rotors turned, and the pads replaced out back.

I have vibration on my 08 that the dealer cannot seem to figure out, however Bill Ray Nissan has not really put much effort into it either, so far I am unimpressed with their service department.

My oldass truck has never broke down or failed me yet!!

I have had a few leaks=(rear seals, tranny cooling lines, front diff., power steering line), and noises=(brakes and rear end), that were taken care of by nissan ...

I change my own oil and keep a good eye on everything while under there, which has paid off for me over the years!

I guess it is the price you pay for buying a first year model vehicle...Still love this truck and would do it again!!!

Yeah I've only had a leaky axle seal and a cracked radiator on my abused 05...I think my front struts went south about a week or so ago, but I live on bumpy dirt roads, so I didn't expect them to last....I would guess, if the 08's are still using the Visteon plastic radiator, that that could be a potential problem. I think they are too, cause I THINK peyton's titan crack his radiator on his 08

my 2008.5 has had the ICM (ignition control module) go bad an left me stranded around 2:00 am. the rear tailgate shock doesnt' work (the tailgate falls like any other truck) and doesn't come down smoothly like it should.

other than that.... the crappy goodyear wrangler tires that we're all condemned with.

i've got an 08.5 and my gas tank would not take a full filling. it would spit gas up at me while filling up. the dealer replaced my entire gas tank quickly and haven't had a problem with it since... oh yeah sometimes by a/c blower gets possessed and sets itself on super high or won't turn on... but it fixes when i turn it off then on again...

I have the same issue, they replaced some resistor and that didn't fix it.

2005 KC SE running like day one (actually running better than day one) with zero complaints. To this day, I still look forward to driving it.

one more thing.... about the gas tank thing... mine fills up fine but has a very loud "Whistling" noise when the gas is being pumped into the tube leading down to the tank - as if air is getting in there with the fuel?

i almost have 30k on it and i'll probably get a new tank under warranty if the problem persists.

knowing my luck - as soon as those 36k miles hit... the tank or pump or something will go bad on me!

My '06 has whistled since the day it was new. Never left me stranded, but it has given me a few long rides home with no radio with no way to reset it other than to disconnect the battery, which is a PITA. Other than that, front pinion seal, 3 sets of rear axle seals, front driveshaft u-joint have been a bother. The original brakes lasted me til 72k, and even then, they only had to turn the front rotors and replace pads. Rears are still original nearing 80k. Must be from all the lubrication they get when the axle seals go south. :)

But I still love driving it and haven't found anything else out there I like enough to get me to switch.

I have an 08, SE,KC,BT and it quit twice in the first 1200 miles and had to be towed to the dealer. Finally found a faulty IPDM with an intermittent short. Air conditioner runs at different speeds for no reason now and then and in long trips and hot weather the evaporator freezes over and the air stops blowing but the dealer won't fix it because he cannot recreate the problem. Gas gauge has shown 3/4 full twice when i filled it and taken about 10 miles to go to full so I imagine it is going out soon. The gas tank also whistles when you fill it but it does not puke gas on you. Once in a while it throws a 0442 code (evap leak even though the gas cap is on tight) and i just clear it myself because the dealer is a one hour drive. Recently the spare keys would no longer start the vehicle and dealer reprogrammed them and they work again. No problems with the brakes so far. Based on these forums I really baby it and make sure it doesn't exceed 1700- 1800 rpm accelerating or on the highway to prevent the many problems I see on these forums. I expect the rad cap to leak, the radiator to leak, the axle seals to leak, the air conditioner to require a new head unit (TSB out for my VIN#) and likely the fuel gauge to need replacing. Besides all that it has been a good truck but I sure baby it to try and maximize the reliability.

I will update my reply as I now have 44,000 miles and just installed new Michelin LTX radials last week so the Goodyears lasted a bit longer than most.
Since the IPDM problem when it was (mentioned above) the rad cap went bad around 30K and the dealer said it was a maintenance item so I purchased a new one. Under warranty the dealer replaced the AC head unit, the fuel sending unit, replaced the bed liner which bubbled up around 28K. The overhead console was falling down and loose since about 30K so when I took it in to show them I think I was around 35K but a bit past 36 months and they would not good will it so I purchased one on line for about $190 and installed it myself. I change all the fluids regularly myself and have changed the diff fluid 3 times in 44K trying to reduce the risk of the rear failing. Tranny fluid twice in 44K. It started to crank slowly even though I always kept the battery full of distilled water so I changed the battery out around 36 months based on comments I saw in this forum. I did not even want another Nissan battery and that is the shortest battery life I have ever had with any new vehicle that I have owned but reading this forums I certaionly can't complain. Other than that I have enjoyed the truck has been OK so far.

only have had a few issues with my titan. the rotors were warped once and mossy nissan in el cajon, ca turned the rotors and replaced the pads free of charge. a new problem that came up is ive been feeling some slack in the drive shaft when stopped and you accelerate the truck. dealer in texas told me the front of the driveshaft is starting to collapse. anyone else ever have this problem? and does anyone know what the hell is up with that? also what is going on with people saying this seal and that seal have gone out and how do i know if mine have done the same thing?

My 08 has had the rear axle replaced due to failure58k, the trans has been replaced (lost first gear)58k, brakes front and back12.5k and 27k, on its third radiator stock till 32k 2nd replacement @45k . And I still love it. Shes 2 years and 13 days old with 63k all problems were fixed under warranty. Oil is changed ever 3000 all fluids have been flushed at suggested maintenance intervals.
