My shop worked with several folks and I still lost steering wheel controls as well as my backup camera, I will just live without, the Pioneer AVH-2400 is a huge upgrade compared to the factory. I have a '17 SV Titan with Nav. I think that was the reason I lost the features.
Quite probably. Looking at the Service Manual (I have access to the '16 XD, but the electronics and harnesses are nearly identical), the low end radio uses the standard resistive switches direct to the radio. These send varying voltages depending on which switch is being pressed across two different signal lines. On the Nav radio, these signals appear to only go to the BCM, so the BCM is presumably translating these into a signal to the radio. There are no steering switch harness wires at the radio harness connector IIRC.

With an aftermarket radio, it might be possible to tap into the harness where the signals leave the steering column spiral wire, before they go to the BCM and feed those to Switch Module. But the voltage steps are small, and it might cause the BCM to misread the signals after the tap is done. I would be pretty careful building a T-harness for this.

Not sure about the Backup Camera, haven't looked too closely at that. I thought mine was a standard video connection (I have the simpler single view backup camera), but the around view has a special additional controller, so it would be another difficult integration issue as well. However, video wouldn't run over CANBUS, so there should be some sort of video connection.

I have an 18 SV with NAV and retained the factory backup camera as well as the steering wheel controls without issue. I'm going to guess that your shop didn't have a clue.

The harness that you need is the Metra AX-NIS24SWC-6V Harness (retains backup camera and integrates ASWC-1 harness) and the ASWC-1 module itself.

Hello Guys

I am new on the forum. I have a 2018 Titan SV Crew great deal due to incentives. I have a radio console that is non Navigation, I’m trying to find out what would be needed to just pop in a Nissan OEM Navigation Unit console? Will I need a harness?

I have steering wheel controls and backup camera, Nissan connect, the assist with upgraded instrument cluster and nav under dash, pretty simple stuff.

Also if anyone is interested in selling their factory matte black Nissan navigation console from a 2017/2018 I am in the market. Thank you guys, any help is appreciated.

If interested in selling your Nissan/Bosch OEM unit just private message me. I don’t have much to play but will consider reasonable prices. Thanks guys

I can't say that I'm 100% positive but I'm pretty sure that the harnesses are different between the non-nav equipped and the nav equipped Titans. The Nav equipped ones (like mine) utilize two 24 pin harnesses. The non-nav ones use a 24 pin harness and a 32 pin harness. They aren't going to be plug and play.

Titanse05, thank you that helps. I know there is a vender that is selling aftermarket nav systems with harnesses for plug and play but are glossy instead of matte black. Thanks

Ooooh me like this. Hate my stereo, but my wife is always turning it down anyway...

I had a double din touch screen put in by an audio professional but because the truck is so new, he couldn't figure out how to make the steering wheel controls and the backup camera work. He contacted the manufacturer but hasn't heard back yet. He was assured that it's possible to have the radio, camera and steering controls work but they needed to figure it out. I had him take the radio out until he new how to make everything work.

I have a 2017 Titan SV with factory navigation and backup camera. I have researched this thinking about putting in an aftermarket. This harness appears to be what you may need. The part number is AX-NIS24SWC-6V. It will allow your factory backup camera to work. It will not work if you have the 360 (All around) camera system. Here are some bullets from the axxessinterfaces.com website.
Pre-wired ASWC-1 harness (ASWC-1 sold separately) (1)
Retains the factory AUX-IN jack
Retains the factory backup camera to an aftermarket radio (2)
Includes the AX-CAM6V 12-volt to 6-volt converter
(1) Select applications, see applications tab.

(2) Will not work with models equipped with an All Around Camera system. If you should buy and use this, let me (us) know how it worked out.

Picked up truck last night - new sound system and back-up camera installed:

- Kenwood DDX8905S Head unit
- ALPINE PWES8 8" powered subs x2
- ALPINE XS69C 6x9 speakers x 2
- ALPINE SS65 6x5 speakers x 2

All steering wheel controls work, looks great - sounds great and I haven't even gotten a chance to mess with equalizer and zone controls. They did have to use stock speaker brackets for the install, so junked the factory ones. The front doors were tough, but the speakers we chose fit just fine. The subs were just the right size to mount without blocking air flow to rear passengers....Pics below!

Do you still have all of your gauge display screens and steering wheel controls after you have completed this upgrade?

This is what I did on my 2018 SV Midnight Edition last year and it worked like a charm. Only lose the radio station readout screen on the gauge cluster.

I have a 2018 pro4x with rockford fosgate system. I found This https://www.scosche.com/lnn10#product_tabs_features_tabbed
got it today and going to install it tomorrow morning with a pioneer 4400nex. i hope to give you guys good news tomorrow.

I don't know if you got this working on your truck but it won't work on mine. I have a 2018 S Crew Cab and the radio has a 32 pin connector as well as the 20. I've been emailing and talking on the phone with Scosche and they have confirmed that it will not work for me. They are doing me a solid and sending a new one to me so I can get a refund from my eBay purchase. Great customer service right there.

The search continues. :serious:

Hmm. So if I get the AX-NIS32SWC-6V, would it work with my non nav truck? So far I've been striking out. Metra doesn't even list stuff for my truck.

Answering my own question. :) I spoke with Metra this morning and Tech Support stated that the 32 pin harness above and the ASWC1 should work just fine for me. Now to order and find out. Here's hoping.

Hello all...I am new to the forum. I have a 2018 Titan Pro 4X 4x4 with Rockford Fosgate, Nav and Rear camera. I spoke with an installer who says he can make an aftermarket work by running it through the factory head unit. He's basically saying he's going to pull the factory head unit and pass through it to the aftermarket. This sounds crazy, but I don't know anything about car audio, except the factory system is trash.

Does anyone know anything about passing through the factory unit to enable all the features?

Thanks,

Joe

I’m in a PR and I’ve been talking to a local Nashville shop that’s told me the same thing.

I’m replacing all speakers, except the center channel in the dash, which I was told is necessary to have to keep Bluetooth and navigation audio. What’s weird is, that center channel will still play audio along with my new expensive speakers. What did you shop tell you about this?

Whee are you going to place your sub(s) amp? I want to put them behind the ear seat, but they say there’s not enough room for the sub. I will probably only get 1-10” sub.

And the answer is: it doesn't work!!! Color me frustrated.

I talked with Metra again and now I have a guy telling me it won't work for the S model. WTF? He did tell me to try a couple of things with the wiring but I'm not confident it will work. :(

I'm open to any ideas that people might have. If any.

Everything is up and working! :D The dash control buttons are a little flaky but it does work. I have a friend that used to do radio installs that helped me out a bit. Thanks Ed!

Anyways, the second techs suggestions are what ended up working. Basically we wired it like it was a 2014 Titan. We used the AX-NIS32SWC-6V wiring harness and made the following changes to the 20 pin connector.

1. Took pin 15 and wired that to ground (we had to add a wire here as it doesn't exist in the kit).
2. Then we had to cut two ground leads from the harness (pin 6 and 15) and make those the gray/blue and gray/red wires.

This got the keys recognized, however every key turned the volume up. I tried all of the manual programing options listed on the manuals you can get from axxessinterfaces.com including the ones from the 2014 titan. None of that worked. There is an app that you can install to your phone (Android or iPhone) and there is one for a windows computer. I grabbed the windows version and connected to the ASWC-1. Read the info from the ASWC-1 and then made changes to the programming to have all of the keys function as I wanted(which was a stock setup). After disconnecting everything and then recycling the ASWC-1 everything worked! Well, kind of. My phone buttons were not working or at least didn't seem to work. By accident I realized that the phone button was actually reversed. So I went back to the app and set my phone on as phone off and phone off as phone on. Now I can answer and hang up calls as well. :D

I mentioned that the dash buttons were flaky. Sometimes I have to a push a button two or three times before it does something. Also, the way the button used to work in the stock setup is not how it works now. I have to toggle in both directions to get to certain menus. It's weird but it does get there eventually. I'm planning on speaking with the tech guys again hoping that something can be done to fix it.

Things do work pretty well now. I have a much better radio, with wireless android auto. Color me happy.
