5 year/100k mile warranty - lingering question

So i did a search and didn't find this anywhere....

I've never had a new truck/warranty. Always has been cheap hand me down cars/trucks outside of warranties.

My question:

So with the 5 year/100k mile warranty... what is covered. I know the wear and tear stuff isn't. But example, lets say at 98000 miles at 4.5 years in, my rear LED Brake light stops working (non-changable part) would that be covered?

Let's say the car charging ports stop working at 98000 miles also. Would that be covered? I know the meat and potatoes (engine/tranny etc) are the real warranty needs due to cost/importance. Just curious about it....

I bought my truck used this month at a dealer who sells all types of used cars and trucks. They said they have never gotten a straight answer from Nissan about the 5yr/ 100k warranty. They also asked Nissan dealerships and they said the trucks are fully covered for 5yr/ 100k. When I brought the truck home I found a supplemental insert in the Nissan warranty book which says that it covers 5yr/ 100k. I then called Nissan directly to confirm and she said according to my VIN in their system it says the vehicles bumper to bumper regular warranty covers 5yr/ 100k but the powertrain warranty is 5yr/ 60k. They checked with a supervisor and confirmed the same thing but were honestly not sure. So I can't say 100% if the factory warranty will cover everything for 5yr/ 100k or not so I bought an aftermarket warranty through my dealer that covers everything for 6yr/ 60k from the day I purchased it. It has a $50 deductible. So hopefully no matter what happens I will be covered for the next 6yrs.

i've never been able to get a straight answer out of anyone either. Even the extended warranty folks were perplexed as to what warranty to sell me

On an extended warranty, you would more than likely needs MORE MONTHS, not miles.

Buying an 5 year/ 100,000 extended warranty for $1700 seems senseless because that's already THE warranty.
I know the Nissan + warranty covers some additional items such as belts and hoses, road side assistance, and rental coverage, but not enough to warranty the cost.

I did see a 96 month 100,000 mile extended warranty which would be an extra 3 years of full coverage, but it was $2500.00

I can just see Nissan not covering some aspect of this 5 year/100,000 mile "bumper to bumper" coverage.

anyone else ever gotten a better, specific answer on coverage?

It’s right in the brochure and all advertising, 60 months/100,000 miles bumper to bumper. I’m not understanding what everyone is missing here. It’s a clear part of their selling appeal over the competition.

Plain and simple, it is 5 years or 100K miles whichever comes first. There is no second guessing the warranty; the question is how many folks will be driving 100K miles in 5 years. In any case, better than 3/36 bumper to bumper and/or 5/60 powertrain.

One thing I’ve learned is never ask the dealer for an answer to something they have no impact on. Each dealer is just a franchisee and not the rule maker, they tend to make things up on a whim when they feel it’s ok. If you have a true need for facts call Nissan Corporate as request it in print.

No, you’re correct we haven’t had one that long but 5 years 100,000 miles bumper to bumper is exactly what it states, funny thing this internet is, if they ever tried to twist it from what it implies and says it would be trending on twitter and elsewhere and sure as the sun will rise tomorrow, they’d relent just like they did when the transmission/ radiator issue from about 2009 and cost people $6k to repair.
So don’t anyone despair, other than normal wear and maintenance items, you’re covered. Remember the yellow pages are full of attorneys.
