I'm wanting a more aggressive stance with my stock 18s. I have a 35x12.5 Nitto M/T. What size should I go with to make my stockers stick out a bit more for a better look and still be safe?

Do not get wheel spacers! What you want are called wheel adapters. Spacers are usually just thin pieces that sit between the wheel and the rotor where as adapters actually bolt onto the existing lugs and give you a new set of lugs to bolt the wheel onto.

Just did a quick search and here is what I am talking about
6 lug to 6 lug wheel adapter or wheel spacer

And adapters are safe, ran them for years on my past 2 trucks with out a single problem.

What kind are they and where did you get yours?

mine are hubcentric

I got mine from another member but here's a link....
Wheel Spacers

they are safe and look sweet. the only draw back i had when mine were on is that Discount Tire Co. would not touch my truck (rotate, balance, etc.) because i had the spacers on. Might be different other places but thats how they do it in Houston.

so these things do not cause an additional stress to the truck?

#17 ·
most after market items....wider wheels, wheel spacers, lifts, all cause additional stress to the truck and its components. They simply werent meant to be on the truck. wheel spacers are no different than any other aftermarket item we put on our T's. Im sure it puts additional stress on the wheel bearings and some other areas but your truck looks pretty monsterous in your sig pic so i wouldnt say wheel spacers are the most stressful thing your trucks going to deal with....

hmmm... thanks! haha i know im trying to get rid of the body lift and add spacers... being high is nice but the body lift cuases issues on the car i dont like dealing with every other weekend.

I agree with RollinPres, I think they do add stress but so do wheels that have less backspacing... My original concern was the same as yours thne I was told it's the same as if I were to buy wheels that would fit, except this gives me the option to go back to OEM offset... Honestly, I wouldn't be running them if my tires had fit on w/o them...

well see heres the thing... mine fit... pretty damn well too only when i hit bumps is it a little rough on my fenders but thats a height issue not a turning issue.

im just looking for a more aggressive stance. whats the smallest i can go (not wheel spacers) im really only looking for like 1/2" maybe a bit mroe to offset the front a bit wider than the rear.

yeah i figured

when i had my tires rotated, i had the shop throw mine on for me since they had the wheel off. they acutually said my rims were mounted more safely with them. without them the oem studs were really short and i need something beefier for the large wheel package i had.

damn... where the hell is your wheel shop id love for some one to tell me that lol

what do you think then.. if i did them 1 1/4" or 1.5"

well i got some lean cause i don't have a sway-bar, but i like it like that.

#26 ·
haha nice im not getting much anyhow unless im taking turns a bit faster than i should...

so what exactly did your tire shop tell you when they said it was a good idea to run these?

#27 ·
well they were just trippin out on how short the factory studs were. they thought the rim shop would've suggested gettin some adapters but that will never happen because it's a cover your a$$ type thing. i mean you only turn them a few times and they are tight. there was guys at the shop that were running adapters too. not too much room to work with. not much holding them rims on. the adapters i bought from another member had much longer studs to work with.

but like RP and Pops said above, it does add stress but no more than running a larger tire or a wider rim.

#28 ·
well thats already on there... plus a 6" lift plus a 3" body lift PLUS the programmer

sooo im thinking of doing 1.5"s then

yea there's guys running 20x12, 20x14, rollin 38 or 40's....I think we'll be ok

Sorry for bringing back an old thread. Just saving it for future use. Thanks!

I have a 2011 CC SV 4x4 with stock 18 chrome wheels...I want to put on my Pocket flares but need to widen stance so it looks good..Would 1.5" adapters with 33x12.50 on the 18 stock chrome wheels Look good with the Bushwackers and 1.5" leveling kit...Also will it fit w/o rubbing

#33 ·
That would put you at 4" of backspace and you would definitely rub with a 33X12.5 you would have to do some trimming at the pinch weld (PWM).

#35 ·
I'm running 20X9" RBP rims with +10mm offset/ 5.4" bs, with 305/55R20 (33X12.5) I did the PWM and removed mudflaps and I don't rub anymore. My wheels and tires are still tucked in about an inch and I hate it. I'm going to add spindles and wheel adapters later to make it look better.

There are cobinations you can run to come close with stock rims and wider tires to sit flush with the flares but you may have to trim quite a bit but is possible.

I seen a thread where "Giimmelub" ran some 20X9' revolvers with like 4.5" backspace or something and I think 305's, her's stuck out alot and she only had a small leveling kit. Might need 1.25" wheel adapters to get the look you're going for and alot of trimming.

Here's the thread I was talking about...
