got the new brakes on today (front and back) and they are def the ones that should have been engineered for the titan in the first place. glad nis stepped up and did it right for pro bono after they found the problem. no truck is without its problems but it is the quality of the correction and how fast it is reworked that is key.

anyway, posted some pics of them--yep new thicker front rotors (not turned) and larger pads. along with thicker pads in the back.

it may be the size of the stealership that determines the amount of kits given to them, but from what i heard it is up to the discretion of the stealership about who gets them, not necessarily nis, so don't blame them--the stealership could put them on the first time if they wanted to.

anyway, if you are having brake issues, take heart, free awesome brakes are coming your way!!!

Nice brakes "stick", did the calipers come red or is that your doing? Like the pics of your truck w/ mods, I have the same truck and I plan to replace the door handles and add the chrome caps to the mirrors for $70.00 from dealer. Again, nice truck.

A friend of mine got the brake upgrade done on her cc 4x4 LE. First thing that came to mind was wow, firmer pedal, better brake feel and stopping power. They also look much beefier as well. Can't wait to get mine.
Exact same experience for me; just had the new parts put on two weeks ago. They feel much firmer.

Dealer originally told me I had to have the rotors resurfaced agian, then they'd put me on a waiting list to get the new brakes (another two weeks). I asked them if they could speed it up if I just left my titan with them the whole time.. and kept asking nicely, and they ended up doing it same day -- and it did take the whole day.

DO THE CALIPERS COME RED? WHAT COLOR?? :bang:

Thanks AustinAggie. I wondered if it truely was a all day fix or if the dealer let it sit for awhile. I'm always nervous when I hand the keys over to the dealer. Hopefully the guy working on it won't be hung over from his 4th of July party, or someone will crash it at the dealership, or they will leave the keys in it and it will get stolen.

in reality, the work is probably only a couple of hours for a professional shop (as it is near total replacement of the front and minor on the back) but of course it depends on how busy your dealership usually is.

i know what you mean about nervous dropping the truck off at the dealer. i get that 'i just dropped my kid off at a sleazy day care' feeling. i feel like it is going to have more problems AFTER it comes out than before.....yes my paranoia counseling is paying off and is starting to help......i think! :upsidedow

let's hear the mysterious answer on the color of the brake pad. Did they come red or did you just paint it?

Im sure he painted them. Duplicolor has a brush-on kit....I used a kit off of ebay twice (my old Accord and wifes Cavilier) and it worked great. It is a G2 paint kit and comes with everything you need. Would need two kits to do all four calipers and rotors. I plan on doing this to my calipers once I get the new brake fix installed. A current link to an example on ebay:

I be able to tell ya if he's pulling our crank about the red calipers in a couple of hours. :jester: Mine is in right now for the final fix.

My brakes were ok, I guess. Stopped fine, but really mushy sometimes. If there was any judder it was very minor. Can't tell if it was just starting to develop (13,479 miles) or if it was mental from reading about it so much. But having a early 04 build, I was due.
I explained to the service manager (not the service desk guy) that I had a long 3k mile trip coming at the end of July and didn't want the full blown judder during the trip. He put me on the list and about 3 week later I am in being fixed. Not all Titan owners even know about this fix. My neighbor don't or didn't. He got the temp fix.
Not all dealerships are even doing the fix when they have the parts sitting in the parts room. My service manager said he got 2 kits from a Nissan dealer about 45 minutes away cause they didn't feel like they needed them that bad, they still do the old fix, a couple of times.
He knows I buy and/or lease alot of cars from him over the years (3 trucks, 4 SUVs, and a Maxima) and he knows I know alot about the trucks and cars I get from them, so he does not try to float to much BS past me. He knows I stay informed about the truck. Thanks to you guys here!!!!!
I wonder how many people would be getting the final brake fix if they didn't surf Nissan or Titan sites?

By the way, since they are kinda doing me a favor getting me done before any big problems I didn't ask for a rental or loaner. I just had the courtesy van drop me off at the rental car company and I rented a 05 Pathfinder for the day. On my own dime. Now I can test drive a new Pathy all day and let the GF know what to get when she turns in her Xterra lease soon.

Well they just called at 11:30. They had the truck since 8am. Thats faster than the "all day" they said earlier. Hope they did everything they said they would. Gonna go get the truck now.

EDIT: Home now. Brakes done. Improvement, but they spilled brake fluid from the reservoir down to the inside of the wheel. Rinsed it all down. Nice mess they left.

Had mine done about two weeks ago. There are great. Pedal feels better. Stops quicker and the brake dust is at a minimum now. Just made a trip to South Carolina with the Titan and everything was great. The brake dust was hardly noticable after the trip. Wish I could have had them put on sooner.
