just wanted to throw this out there and ask if anyone else with a set of revo's is showing premature wear?

i've had the tires for a little over 10k miles, but they sure don't look like they will make it to the 50k mile warranty (or whatever it is, i forget). makes me wonder if i should go with the revos2 once these wear out. otherwise, the tire has been great.

thanks.

I don't remember what the treadwear warranty is either, but I'm now at about 25k on them. At that maileage, I have doubts about them passing inspection in a year. :dunno:

I'm on my third set of Revo II's......I have a 5-way rotation-balancing and alignment done every 3,000 miles and I get 25K each time. The 50K warranty is pro-rated..so don't go past 25K and you get a pretty good deal on a new set.
Keep all service records on your tires for any warranty claim you might have.
Yes they last half as long but they are quiet on the road and get excellent traction on wet surfaces and in snow. It would be nice if they made the rubber a little tougher. Come on Bridgestone!

...I have a 5-way rotation-balancing and alignment done every 3,000 miles...
Do you have trouble keeping it aligned? That sounds quite excessive.
I have over 60k on the clock, not one alignment or balance. Still on original tires, no cupping or uneven wear. I was thinking of going to the Bridgestones, some members said great things about them, but now not so sure...may just go with the BFG KO's.

I have had a set of these for three winters in New England. I sometimes pull a snowmobile trailer, I like the performance in snow and ice, great traction. They inspire confidence in adverse conditions. At 28,000-30,000 miles they are ready to be retired, not enough tread left for this upcoming winter. They are louder than the stock Goodyear tires and my gas mileage went down by 1 mpg highway with the Revos.

I believe the wear was 40000 miles. I'm at a little over 40000 on mine right now but I'll be lucky to make it to 45000.

I would say 40k out of a set of tires is pretty good for any car unless its all hwy driving. The heat here in AZ drys out rubber really fast so the rule of thumb here is 3yrs and its time to replace them. If i lived where it snowed or rained alot i would be replacing them just under half tread life.

It is a 50,000 pro rated warranty. I have 13,000 on mine now and they are about half gone. They will never make 50,000. Problem is, I do my own rotations at 3 to 4 thousand miles and they say I need documentation for the warranty. How do I deal with that?

i would say if they are wearing streight than that would be proof of the rotations.

I went with the Revos as well. I'm burning them off at a furious rate. And I drive mostly highway miles. The stock tires made it to 60k miles (and could have gone a little longer).

I have 84k on the truck now...and I'm already shopping for tires. The wear is even...very little (if any) cupping from stearing. I rotate every other oil change (3k miles...so rotation every 6k).

Maybe I'll go back to stock...Everyone says they are cheap tires...But, they lasted a long time and were OK in thre rain.

I've got a little over 27,000 miles on mine and they are just about toast.

The tire shop told me that I need to get a little more wear on them before they are able to pro-rate them. They have 3/32" of tread and they must be at 2/32" to pro-rate them.

So in the end they may get 30K on them total. PITA that this is going on during the winter. Hopefully the Revo 2's will be better

What's the story on the REVO 2's? I haven't heard anything about them.

I got the Revo2's not too long ago and dont worry about the tread life as I do not drive my truck very often. I also got the from Fiorestone because they price matched tire racks cost. Just printed it out and carried it in. Saved about $50 a tire!

The "changes" in the Revo2's was explained to me that the center section of the tread was made a solid band to give better wear life, smoother ride and cut down on some road noise. at least that was the sales pitch. :)

So far they have driven very well. I even had a little snow to test them in this year, performed very well in snow too.

If all they did is change the compound in the center, they may still have the problem along the shoulders. I'm not impressed with these tires at all. They're loud and they're melting away before my eyes (I think lost another 5k miles last night while it was sitting in the driveway...kidding). I will say the wear is even all around (I'm religious about rotations and alignment).

I just replaced the Revos with 27,000 miles on them. I rotated them every 5,000 miles. Great tire if you use your truck to commute. Towing with them was terrible for me. Great grip. Replaced them with BF Goodrich A/T TA KO LT275/70/18 . Now the Titan rides like a truck. These should last more than the 27K I got out of the Revos.

Well, you see...that's the delimma. I did a lot of research on tires before selecting the REVOs. Low unsprung weight was one important feature I wanted, since most of my use is highway and on road. I didn't want to go with the full all-terrain. Most of my 4x4 use is pulling a boat from our sand boat ramp on a river.

The REVO came highly recommended on vitually all sites I hit. The stock tires, which I got about 60k miles from, scored at the bottom of the scale. As far as I'm concerned, they should have ranked at the top. I think I may go back to them.

The REVOS do have great grip...no doubt. But, the trade off is soft compound, which burns off more quickly. It's no different than high performance tires for sports cars.

Does the "LT" rating on a tire have an effect on the tire wear/life span? I don't remember anyone mentioning it.

Update- I just got my Revo's taken off at a little over 27,000 miles. They were getting loud and had no traction. I live in Utah so traction is a must with snow in the winter. The Revo's were a good tire other than the lack of mileage.

I replaced them with LT 285/70/17 Michelin LTX A/T2's. I only have a few miles on them but there is a world of difference in the ride.

The Revo's were P metric so I am hoping for more mileage out of the LT's as well as more confidence while towing.

I thought about going with the Revo 2's to see if they had improved but they only offer a P metric in my tire size.

Me and several of my buddies have had them. The set I had didn't even last 25,000 and all of my buddies who had them didn't have much more luck out of them.
