Cruise Control "blinking SET"

All - I tried to put on my cruise control this evening and it would not turn on. The SET light was blinking. I could turn cruise on and off but when it was on the SET would just sit and blink.

I tried to reset the ECU with no luck. This was usually pretty easy in the past. I did it probably 10x before giving up. No other warning lights though - just no cruise. It worked earlier today with no issues. Nothing has changed.

I had the same thing happen to me, never did try and reset the ECU though. I believe someone else had this problem in another thread, the dealership replaced the steering wheel switch to fix it. I'm about to go through the same process so I will share my research:

Here's the other thread:
http://www.titantalk.com/forums/titan-faq-howto-area/59558-cruise-set-light-flashing.html?highlight=cruise+control

Find out if it is actually the switch, there is a troubleshooting tree in the engine control service manual that you can use a voltmeter on. You have to register to d/l.

Pulling the wheel and installing a new switch. This thread is actually for installing new switches, but it should be the same
"http://www.titantalk.com/forums/titan-parts-accessories/35187-adding-steering-wheel-audio-controls.html?highlight=Elbo+Audio+Controls"

You will need part #4 from this page:
http://www.trademotion.com/partlocator/index.cfm?action=getLocator&siteid=214027&chapter=ARF3630&appSectionid=2575&groupid=51862&subgroupid=4793&componentid=67409&make=25&model=Armada&year=2005&graphicID=3630230&callout=4&catalogid=2

Hope this helps, post if you fix it before I do, I hope this is the solution. I also heard some talk about cleaning the contacts on the switch, but it seems like a lot of work to get to those contacts.

Check to see if you have a brake light out.

Imagine that....go figure. Maybe you have a "short" in it. :smoke:

I'd like to see the story you tell about this after you've paid to get it fixed. :futwice:

I guess you'll be a little "long" in the tooth about that time???:jester:

Just grab'em.....and see if a little person is standing behind you????"misslelau LOL too loud...

Someone had this problem on CT a few days ago. I've experienced the blinking set light myself a few times.

RBsTitan suggested, "Its likely a wheel sensor issue. When I swapped to a 3.36 from a 2.94 same thing happened. THe ECU has set limits on the sensor speeds or what it thinks are safe sensor speeds based upon its programming. I'd check with cipher to see how far off the two speed sensors are. Dealer can do the same with Consult as mine read 8-10mph off at 50mph."

Anyhow, it hasn't happened to me in a while. But every time I restart my truck the problem disappears.

Well I got the reset to work this morning - maybe the truck has to be cold to do it? No luck between that and checking to see if I had a brake lamp out. Called the dealership and it's going in on Monday morning.

Upon further inspection this morning the Cruise button has more of a tacky feel to it when it's pressed.

I'll be interested to hear what your dealer says the problem is.

***UPDATE***

Brought it into the dealership this morning - they hooked it up to the computer and the code said "Bad/sticking switch on the steering wheel."

They unstuck it for temp and it'll be four days to get the other parts in. Looks like a pretty simple fix. They also saw the recall for the air conditioning part and are ordering that and replacing it at the same time too.
