Perhaps we can hand this out daily. Let me be the first to have this honor bestowed upon.

Got my first ding today from a runaway grocery basket. Thought I'd be nice and cook dinner for the wife since I was off. Sure enough I made a rookie grocery shopper mistake and didn't keep my head on a swivel while I was loading the groceries. The only thing worse than having a grocery cart hit your truck in the parking lot, is having the cart that has YOUR groceries in it, hit YOUR truck. Go ahead and give it up for the Dumbass of the Day! I deserve it.

I would like to nominate myself for the dumbass award. I put the trash out the night before it was to be picked up. I back out of my driveway the next day and knocked over the trash and the recylce stuff, which I had to pick up. And whats worse, after picking it Up I notice I put a 5 inch scratch on my truck.... s%^&^%.

You're not dumb. What happened to you was an accident. A friend of mine really messed up the plastic part of the front bumper of his Armada by trying to push a gate closed.

Oh, by the way. You made several statements and you didn't specify which one was the "dumb ***" one. Could it have been "being nice and cooking for your wife...???"

You guys are lightweights.

I backed into a mailbox the first night, broke a taillight and creased the
bed. Got home and dented the hood with my palm. New light and a visit
to a pdr guy took care of it.

The sheer size of the truck takes some getting used to. Get your trucks
fixed as soon as possible and you'll feel much better. Worked for me.

I remember the day I got my tailgate shaved on my custom Toyota truck- I drove it home, parked it into the garage, and closed the door. As it came down...WHAM! It smacked the back of the tailgate, putting a huge dent and chipping the paint, which I just had redone. I nearly puked when this happened. I drove it for a while, until I couldn't deal with it anymore and just had it redone for another $250.

Needless to say, that won't happen with the Titan, because it doesn't fit in my garage anyway!

hehe.. add me to the list.. Is someone passing out trophies?
I had an extension cord (for the shopvac -- keeping inside of Titan clean) end resting on the bed so the big end was hanging between the cab and bed. I opened the rear door and it stopped. I decided it was odd that it didn't open farther, so I forced it, and the rear door (KC) forced the extension cord end into the back corner of the cab. Made a quarter size dent and cracked the paint. That was no "accident," it was just plane being a dumba$$. Next time I have $500 laying around, I will get this filled and painted.

What a bunch of dumbasses! Nah I'm just kidding. It was fun reading this guys! In fact I was kind of grouchy all day today and it's now 10:35 p.m. and this is the first time I can remember laughing all day!- Thanks!!!!
Well, I wasn't going to post this, based only on anger. However, I guess I will. The other night (July 4th) I was invited to a party where everyone was to meet on the top level of a rented out parking garage. Once inside the garage, I noticed that all of the beams cleared the top of my truck by about a foot or so. All is safe right...wrong. I found a small alcove with 3 parking spots. 2 were arleady used and the 1 empty one was against the wall. In being careful to get as close to wall as possible and as far away from the next car as possible, I didn't think to look up. The beam that ran the width of the 3 spots was actually lower than anywhere else in the entire garage. Needless to say, what sounded like running water on the top of my truck was actually my truck wedging itself between the ground and the beam. Worse yet, I then had to back out because that was really my only choice. I could have stayed there given that the damage was done, but had I (we) gotten out, the damage would just have been worse when the truck raised up. I now have about an 8" x 8" area loaded with scratches. I will get it fixed and I am not so bothered now, but I was sure kicking myself that night.

Looks like we're gonna need more trophies!

I backed into a streetlight that was mounted on a 3 ft. high concrete block. Bent the left side of my bumper in.

Really pissed me off because, knock-on-wood, I hadn't put a scratch on any of my vehicles for 10 years before that. Granted, I've never had anything as huge as the Titan.

Here's something really dumb that ya'll can learn from, never ever go pulling into a Sonic drive-in thinking those big a$$ mirrors will fit, they don't and they cost $166.00 each for the parts alone.

This is an awesome thread. I have had two separate incidents (one in a parking garage and one parallel parking) of realizing I had run out of room behind me by bonking the nose of the car behind me.

Fortunately, no damage to either car or the truck. Nothing like it to get you looking around red-faced to see if there are any witnesses that need eliminating!

Add me to the list... I opened my door at the gas pump and didn't hold firm when the wind took it and hit the concrete piller by the pump. Put a very small ding and scratch.

I almost decided not to respond for fear of retribution for being able to claim nothing dumb@ss yet (I'm going to be knocking on a big@ss piece of wood here in a second). Been close a few times, especially with the wind catching the doors and almost smacking them into adjacent parked cars. I really empathize with you guys...boy am I sorry!

I'll self-nominate..

I have the Armada with the backup sensors. After having it for about a week, I noticed that when I backed up to park it near a curb it would go off. After a particularly long night (during my band/gigging days) I was backing it up into a spot a work and heard the sensors going off. Thinking it was just a curb, I kept going. As you all know that 5.6l V8 is pretty touchy, so I accidentally hit the gas a bit too hard and slammed into a light pole that I didn't see for whatever reason.

I still have the nice dent in my bumper- right next to a sensor. $435 to fix it..yeah, I'll bite the bullet one day.

I would like to nominate a Dodge owner for this award, and no its not for buying it you goofballs!!! I pulled into a gas station, and dented my door on them stupid poles that i have known about for 10yrs. Thought i cleared it, but i guess i was used to my mazda door. I had a 92 jeep wrangler 1 day old, and my girlfriend (now my wife) leaned on the hood, and caved it in. ($400 in damage.) I didnt get mad. I wont get to why she was up there, and who's fault it was. Still a dumbass award though.. LOL

#1. 03/11/2004 - I Drove my Titan home and parked it in the garage for the first time, only hours after buying it. When I opened the door, I made sure the door contacted my Tahoe's mirror before getting out of the truck, as I didn't want the door to slam into the mirror. I had to push pretty hard to slide out of the door because of the narrow gap. When I closed the door, I noticed a small crease. I re-opened the door to verify it was caused by the Tahoe's mirror... sure enough, I had just put the first dent in my truck, even while being very careful not too. I now put my hand between the Tahoe's mirror and my door.

#2. 06/17/2004 - I misjudged my entry into my garage and hit the outside wall. The plastic piece on the outside edge of the bumper is ruined. Cost for the part is $48, but it does not come painted. Cost to have it painted $120, but they won't warranty the paint, unless they install it. Cost to have it installed $53. Total cost to have the part replaced is $221. I now enter the garage differently.

#3. Who knows?

went to get a hair cut. shopping center was crowded, parking lot was close to full. deceided to park by the road, next to a light pole, far away from the maddening crowd. i took two places, no scratches, nicks or dings, right? new barber was a sharp looking lady; did an excellent job on my melon. as i was congratulating myself on my haircut and the clarity of wit displayed to the young damsel, i backed over the light pole. custom paint on my titan was 3 days old.

I was backing up in someones driveway to turn around. There was two birdbaths on each side of the driveway towards the front. Dad "Dont hit the birdbaths". Me "I wont, I see them". Me "Where did it go?" Bam! Broken birdbath. Owner came out and told me not to worry about it. He makes them and only costs him $10. He said he hits them all the time. Dumbass birds. :)
