I just talked to a Nissan Rep at 1-800-nissan1 and complained about this problem.

I suggested that the engineers spend 5 minutes to integrate an automatic switch that would disable VDC in 4-LO or when the e-locker is engaged. That way you could have both VDC and e-locker.
He said that was a great idea (obvious) and that the engineers
ask the Reps for suggestions that customers have at the end of every day. The Rep recorded the complaint/suggestion and said he would give it to the engineers today. I don't expect anything to come of it, but at least the word will get back to them.

I can't believe the "engineers" didn't think of this ????

It makes you wonder

Bet you some real money its not the engineers: Marketeers, my man - c'mon; lets all put our Mickey Mouse hats on and sing it:

"M - a - r; k - e - t, e- e- r -s.." You give the engineers say-so in what makes it to production and we would have some -really- rockin machines.

Had it not been for this board and the great info passed along by everyone I would have been looking for my VDC switch next to my e-locker switch.

My hat's off to all of you !
My dealer called this afternoon after I asked him about this on Friday. He checked into my order and found out that I was getting the e-locker with the no VDC tow package because that is how they are building the trucks that got ordered before the e-locker was available.

Had it not been for this forum I would have waited 4 long months to get my truck and ended up with a truck that didn't have what I wanted on it.

That would have been a baaaaaadddd thing because we are leaving on a month long trip around the good ole USA 2 weeks after it was supposed to be delivered.

The best thing is they found a truck that has what I want and I will get it next week instead of the end of May!!! WoooHooo!!!    Beers for everyone!!

I also just called 1-800-nissan1 and spoke to a rep about combining the VDC and e-locker. The rep told me that he had received similar inquiries from others and said that he contacted the engineers and was told this (this is the rep paraphrasing): "we cant combine the e-locker and vdc due to a technology issue but it shouldn't matter because the VDC is better anyway".
I politely told him that that is the biggest bunch of bull$hit i have ever heard for two reasons. 1) the VDC and e-locker are two different devices (traction aides) used in completely different situations, thus one can not be better than the other. 2) if they really believed that VDC was better than, or could replace the need for the e-locker then they should offer the offroad package without the e-locker instead of the big tow package without the VDC.
The rep had no comment but said he would forward my suggestion. I told him that this was the only thing keeping me from ordering a Titan today (which is true). This whole thing is really starting to pi$$ me off because I need a new truck soon if not now. I just want Nissan to provide us with a legitimate explanation of why they wont combine VDC with thee-locker. :gunz:

I was just looking around on the web and found a Eaton e-locker installation review on a Hummer. Very interesting !

The author notes that the E-locker also appears to have a limited slip function when the locker is NOT engaged. If this is true, it explains why Nissan would not allow VDC and the e-locker together. As many pointed out it's not rocket science to make the VDC deactivate when the e-locker is on.

We assume the diff is a "open type" when the e-locker is off - maybe not!

That's an interesting point. If that is true, then that means that ABLS would be redundant for the rear wheels.
