that would be funny if that is actually why. i would have never known that though since i don't have a natural gas, or propane tank for the house. my parents have a huge one up in the hill country but i know nothing about it

When I got my truck back in November of '20, I noticed the whistling immediately. In the last couple of months, I've had escalating issues with it including the pump kicking off multiple times, gas spitting back out, and the tank not filling completely. I'm taking mine in tomorrow to have it replaced. However, if I didn't have the other issues, I really wouldn't be too concerned with just the noise.

It's not a design defect. It's physics. I've had several other vehicles do it over the years. None as consistently nor as loudly as the Titan, but a Ford Ranger (mid-90s), a Chevy Equinox (mid-2000s company vehicle), and a Toyota Corolla rental car I had a couple of weeks all have done it.

So it's a defect on the Gen2, but not the Gen1. Hmmm...a little investigation on my part shows the whistle folks are complaining about is more pronounced and constant on the Gen2, so my guess is, more restrictions (all likely related to federal regs on vapor recapture). Learn something new all the time.

On a side note, I should have known better than to take you off ignore. Back you go. Hate the Titan without me having to read about it. I'll let you have the last word (which I won't see) since I'm sure you will want to.

LOL!!! Puts me on ignore because he can't handle someone calling out the design defects on the Titan.

Gen1 had it's own issues. I had a Gen1 Titan. It didn't whistle but it spit out gas like a sick baby. The fix was the evap control valve. Unfortunately after a few thousand miles the revised evap control valve would fail again like the original and then it would be back to spitting out gas again. I replaced my evap control valve on the gen1 titan 4 times.

Still not a reason to get rid of the truck. I’ve had two trucks both engines replaced. That would be a reason to get rid of the truck. My whistle is unique and does not impact the drivability of the truck. The TSB exists because too many people probably complained about it. Nissan is probably replacing it to save face with existing customers. If it existed on the Gen1 then I’m pretty sure they would have designed it differently if it was an actual design defect for the gen 2.

It may be a design defect, but it in no way affects the performance of the vehicle or is safety related. I've had vehicles with trim pieces that fell off. Also a design defect, also nothing to worry about it, also not fixed by the dealer (just put the knob back on and try not to pull on it). Personally, I like my singing Titan.

Fluid mechanics actually, Archimedes principle of displacement. Mine does it too. I don't know why this is such a sword fight. Kind of makes me glad I don't own a business dealing with the general public.

my step dad owned a plumbing company when i was a kid, he still does but anyways, we would go to people's houses to work and they would be horrible slobs with dog crap piled up in the edges of the hallways and rooms but if we didn't clean up the bathroom or kitchens to be spotless and like a brand new house, they called and complained daily and would call the better business bureau and make complaints on you. we would have to take pictures of how it was when we got there to fight all the complaints people would make.

we would do reroutes under the house, to replace the whole system, also. if their stupid dog fell into the trench, even though we covered them with boards and put caution tape around, they would sue you saying their bogs were traumatized but they went out and moved the boards for the dumb dog to get into the trenches.

dealing with the general public sucks.

Yes, it's fluid mechanics. And fluid mechanics is a branch of classical physics, or at least was last time I checked. I would equally describe magnetism as "physics," when it could also be described as falling under the Electromagnetism branch of physics. For the sake of this discussion, the branch wasn't truly relevant, was it?

you know, i think mine is getting less as i own the truck longer. it used to do it the whole time and was fairly loud but now its very quiet

or maybe its about to stop taking gas and i will have to flat bed it to the dealership, ha ha ha

Beware of the Nissan warranty! My Nissan Titan is a 2018 with 72K miles and has a so-called 5 year 100K bumper to bumper warranty or so I thought. I have had an issue with the fuel tank whistling extremely loud since day one. During my first oil change where I purchased it, I told the salesman about the issue and he just laughed and said they all do it. About 6 months later I was at another Nissan dealership getting my oil changed and I showed the service guy a video of me filling the tank and he said I have never heard of that before and there is no info about your problem. A year later they came out with service bulletin NTB19-049 about my issue. I was getting my oil changed this past month at a different Nissan dealership and I asked the service manager there about my issue and he knew immediately about it and said he would see about getting it fixed. He found out that repair is considered a DEFECT and is only covered for 3 years and 36K miles. I escalated it up the ladder and they agreed to pay 1/2 of the cost.... what a joke! How in the world do you determine what is a defect and what is a normal repair. I am a 4 time Nissan owner and I am looking to trade my Titan in today on another vehicle. This is the last time me or my family will purchase a Nissan vehicle.
