Got my truck today & issues already

Picked up my 05 SE CC 4x2 today. I got home and my girlfriend realized they left out the compass w/Homelink display.

The sticker shows the Popular package which includes the display, but it's not there. Looks like it was somehow left off at the factory?

Have to call the service manager tomorrow to see about getting it put in.

Hope this isn't a sign of things to come.

Before you call tomorrow just spend some time looking at the truck and make a list of things that you have concerns about, and when you talk to them be nice. This isn't the fault of the dealership. (This time. :jester: )
I'm sure they'll take care of you. There are way more great Dealerships then crappy ones out there.
Just remember you only get one shot at making a first impression and if they don't meet your Idea of great customer service find another dealership.

Good luck and enjoy your truck.

Thanks Squid.

The dealership has been pretty good so far. We actually had to get my truck from another dealer, so I know it's not the dealer's fault. I am a little dissapointed by the lack knowledge by the salesman. He didn't know anything about the Titan. The only thing he would say was, "Make sure if you are towing something, to put the truck in tow mode". Really, I don't know if I could have figured that out. :)

We'll see what happens tomorrow.

Well let us know how it goes. :jester:

Setting the compass is on the pre delivery checklist. I guess Nissan needs a checklist to match how the truck was spec'd against how it was built.

Do what squid says and be nice. It is not thier fault

I can only speak for myself but the nissan service I bring it to has been more than awsome. They always fully admit what is thier fault and fix it right away (like the brakes). You cannot say the same for alot of car makers.

I have only had problems with the brakes and they fix it ASAP. The rest of the truck kicks butt.

Is the compass and homelink still part of the rear-view mirror or is it located elsewhere on the '05?

I thought I read that it was taken off the mirror and put in the overhead console on 05's. I also saw a post here that makes me think your not the only one missing those features when it was on the list. :)

What happen to the 200 engineers from Japan that suppose to improve quality
They forgot to use a compass and ended up in East Bumf*ck.
:teethmast

It is supposed to be on the upper console. I had that checklist as well, and they skipped the compass/homelink checkbox.

Regardless, this is one awesome truck!!!

They were hired by Ford to help them get the F-150 issues ironed out. Nissan just uses trial and error methods, as demonstrated with the brake judder. :jester:

They certainly weren't hired by GM.

Spoke with the service manager this morning. He said as long as it shows on the window sticker, they will put it in. Very nice guy. I have to take it in Monday so they can see if the harness is there or if they have to run all the wiring.

I can't imagine the harness not being there. Unless it is only in certain models?

when i was selling nissans, it was mandatory to have that signed by the customer at time of delivery. we referred to them as PDIs... but i would imagine that some are lazier than others so the techs that were supposed to perform it, i guess checking off boxes w/o actually doing the work is probably what goes on...

So what happened? Nothing is more aggravating then taking a brand new truck/car to the dealer for problems or issues. Hopefully your truck is pre-wired so the installation will be easy. Keep us posted.

I went in this morning & spoke with a different guy then I spoke to on Saturday. Explained what was going on & he looked at the sticker to confirm I was supposed to have the part & said the wiring is there & he will have the parts department order the display today and should be able to get it installed early next week.

Very painless. :)

I'll let everyone know once the install is completed.

Thanks,

Jeremy

Yes, sadly, no matter WHAT business you are in, there are ALWAYS those folks who do less than their share of the work. You just happened to be involved with one that ran down the list at 4:56 on Friday afternoon and said "yep, its all there"...check...sign...IM GONE!

Now, im not saying i woulnt have done the same....but i would have at least tried to push it to monday, so i guess it actually is a management issue if that were the case.....:/
