Thanks it looks good, i have plans to black mine out as well, eventually.
No prob. It's gonna look great all blacked out. I was gonna throw in some red on the emblem for contrast but when it was done all black I had to stay with it. It looked too good!!

You'll do good man, just prep sand like no other and paint will be smooth sailing.

Thanks man... Here's what I did. I can't stress enough that it's all about prep work. That's where your going to spend a good majority of your time. I started off with a 60 grit sand paper on my oribital sander and went to work on the chrome piece of the bumper. I had a lot of little rock chips from highway driving so I had to get all of those out. And if you even miss one chip, it will show through like no other on your paint. After i was done, I re-sanded with a 220 and finished up with a 320 for a smooth finish. After that i cleaned it with soap and water to remove excess debris. **Just a note** be careful when sanding down the grill, since it's plastic, the lower grit sand paper will chew through it. If you eat down to the plastic, you have to fill it in to smooth it back up.

After that it's off to primmer for both. And then paint. Believe it or not I used Rustoleum primmer, Rustoleum gloss black and Rustoleum gloss clear coat. One pass with primmer, 3 passes with paint and about 2-3 passes with clear. Make sure you aware in your head to spray evenly. Be mindful of how much your laying down because if you try to rush through it it's all gonna show up crappy at the end. Take the time to mask everything off to prevent overspray on the hood and fenders...

And lastly, make sure your wife or signifigant other has something to do, because like I said, your prep work will take up the majority of your time. Keep her busy so you don't get interrupted. HAHAHA!!!

Another other questions, let me know.
Sweet man, thanks for the details. I will probably make this a project over winter break this year. I'll be hoping for a snowy week I can just spend in the shop haha. I have been pretty good about not rushing projects like painting. And like you said, I like do it yourself projects as well, f' swapping haha.

Thanks again fellas! I'm going to wash the whole truck and polish up the grill and bumper and see how it really pops out...

DIY all the way RockyMT!!

Damn... that looks sick. I've always wanted to paint my front bumper black but thought it was impossible to paint chrome. Can you post how you're gonna paint the mirror caps and handles next?

Black rims are already on there dude. I think the next to be painted are they tow mirror caps. I thought about the headlights. Not sure if I should smoke the stockers or get some CCFL's...

I actually wanted to try to do some painting on a different color Titan if anyone's interested. I also wanted to try some different finishes, like a Flat or Matte finish. If anyone is close by and wants to take the plunge, hit me up.
Hey looks real good!! Few things i would have done different is, left the emblem chrome. To me it looks like its missing from a distance.. And you can tell that your painted bumper isnt as smooth as your stock paint.. Somthin to do with the kind of gun you use, it might spray thicker.. Anyways to get rid of that you can wet sand it with 1500, or 2000 grit.. Then buy a G4 paste, and buff it with a high speed buffer.. It will be almoste mirror finnish.. Not sure if you knew, just tryin to help.. But looks awsome!!

How would silver truck look with black bumper?

Great job looks really bad a$$, prep work looks great looks like you took your time, and sanded nicely, really good work with a rattle can,

i want to do mine i have a silver titan and going with silver and black theme no chrome getting black handle in the mail soon from a user no here but no one wants my chrome mirrors so ill have to paint those and want to paint my bumpers front and back black. thanks for all the info and detailed pics,

Damn that looks great.....

I've got a smoke XE front bumper, I might just paint it Semi Gloss Black and run it till I can get my chrome bumper fixed and painted!

Oh and I love the blacked out Nissan emblem!! I would do the red lettering though, it will look great!

^^^^^ i agree red lettering would look asome

truck looks sweet, when you do the mirrors and handles let me know, mine are all jacked up lol

looks good I did my upper grille flat black back in the summer. I plan on doing the lower grille when it warms up. You should do the headlight mod to totally black it out, then it'll mean as hell
