Team, I have a 2008 Nissan Titan Pro 4-X. I want to upgrade my headlights. My wife has a 2006 Nissan Maxima and has HID headlights (which light up the road for miles!). What is the best Headlight upgrade for my T-Machine??

Thank you.

HID headlights from DDM Tuning. 9006 bulb for lows and 9005 bulb for highs. They have a Raptor kit(which i used) for $29.95 including a lifetime warranty. These are not junk. They are a Top Shelf product at a bargain price. They have a higher end kit that also includes lifetime warranty with a slightly slimmer ballast for $49.95. They are both available in either 35w or 55w kits. I went with 35w 6000k for both lows/highs. They are stupid bright with just lows on and when you hit highs when both are burning and its noontime light out all of a sudden. LOL You can also add HID 880bulb fogs for those that don't have enough light with just lows and highs. I have (2) Hella off-road lights w/100w bulbs to boot. I never have a problem seeing at night unless i've got my beer goggles on. LOL Opps did i say that? Don't drink and drive.

Thanks I didn't see your post about the site but i googled it and yeah i saw the website and just ordered the 35w 6Ks. can't wait to install them...

^^HAHA, good one

But yeah, DDM Kits are awesome, ive had mine for who knows how long and theyre still going strong!! I just bought the Raptor Kit for my Pops 73 C10 and maaaaan are they crazy bright!!

I just got the raptor kit for my wifey's 05 corolla and man does it make a difference I got her the 6k 35watt.. the only draw back was I had to disable the daytime running lights because it was creating a problem with the HID Kit, so I had to snip one wire (which was a pain in the azz to find) But got it and now those bad boys work perfect couldn't be happier

Install is really easy all you do is unplug your current headlight bulb, plug the power connector from that bulb to the ballast and the rest is easy as pie. And no you don't have to upgrade any power sources. The ballast is what charges the gases in the bulbs.

Cool Enjoy!

Well i guess it's time for me to upgrade my headlights too. I saw this thread and it looks promising to get this type. So did you guys get it from their website directly or through ebay? Also what is a good bulb color, i believe our stock are 9006 and 9005, correct me if im wrong but i want a white flourescent output. Can you guys give me ideas? Thanks.

Is it easy to install? Thanks in advance...

Well if you want to pay 3 times as much, order from feebay. I would order from the sight i gave above. I bought 6000k but they have a color chart on their sight that will give you the color to number conversion. The 6000k has a very subtle blue tint that will eventually wash out to white over time. If you start with 4500k that is pure white it may wash out over time to a yellowish tint. <This was my opinion only. It is all plug and play "even a caveman could do it". I also gave the bulb sizes in your truck in my original post. I didn't find these kits, they are well used by many many others on here.

I bought and installed the 35W 5,000K kit a few months ago and I love it. It really helps the truck stand out and the new headlights look pretty tight with the HID light coming out of them. I can see a lot better in storms now!

#14 ·
Oh without a doubt, i can't believe the difference these lights make. It is literally a night to day change. I've said on here before, they are stupid bright with just lows on but when i hit my highs and they both are on its just down right insane the light thats put out of these. Hands down the best results of improvement of all mods i've done, period!!!

#15 ·
I just put the DDM raptor kit in my t but i went with 35w 5000k i personally dont like all the blue look the 5000k is really white.

I always thought HID kits just replaced your whole lighting... IE, no low/high.

Is that wrong then?

I mean shoot, if this only costs $50 I want to do it.

Can someone post up a step by step on how to install these? I'm not sure where this ballast and everything goes, just looking at the photos.

#18 ·
I don't know what you mean ny whole lighting. With our truck, there are two separate bulbs for low and high. Most people just replace the low beams with the HID setup and are good with it. Obviously you can replace both and have even more light.

I'm sure there is a step by step somewhere. It is a very swap. Just remove the old light bulb, insert the new bulb and make your connections. You will have to pull back the wheel liner to get access. Some people put the ballast on the shelf below the headlight. I found a small bolt that I could easily remove and attached the ballast there.

The ballast can pretty much go anywhere.

I don't want something just ungodly unatural looking- I don't want purple lights.

A bit of blue would be perfect though. But mainly, just the increased visibility is what I'm after.

Will the same bulb and ballast in the high be brighter than the same bulb and ballast in a low? IE- do I still get "high" and "low" intensity?

I was thinking of getting just 8000K 55w in the highs (I read it'd look about like 6000K 35w, is that true?) and then 6000k 35w in the lows.

I think I'll leave my fog lights alone... It's illegal to run with those on anyway here unless it's bad weather.

#20 ·
8K will be pretty blue! Look at the color charts on their site.

Yes, the same bulb will be brighter in the High, there is nothing in front of the bulb like the low beam. If you put a set in both high and low, Yes, there will be a difference in the intensity!

I would not mix the colors, but that is just me.

I definitely would not put 8K in the fogs, they would be totally useless for fog.

#21 ·
Where on Earth did you get that it is illegal to run with fogs on unless its bad weather. I've never heard such a statement or law before in my life. The law does not state how many lights you may use in order to see the roadway. Now if your foglights are abnormally blinding people then you could have an issue but otherwise thats a preposterous statement. I would be very interested in reading a such law.

If an officer is in the mood, you can be ticketed for it.

I got one many years ago. The ticket said something like driving with fog other than inclement weather. I don't remember exactly, but the officer told me that I could be within so many feet of another driver. This was atleast 15 years ago.

I ran 35w 6000k kits for both lows and highs. There is a slight hint of blue but the colors match exactly. Thats why i went with the exact same kits on both. If you mix the different wattages and colors, its a toss up on whether or not they'll match. When you have highs on both lows and highs burn together and trust me it is very noticable between low and high beams. I'm telling you they are insane bright on just low and when you hit high beams its high noon all of a sudden. LOL

It can take them awhile for sure. I believe it took almost a month to get mine but i ordered in the Xmas season. They will come don't worry. Give 'em a call and they'll give you a ship date. Trust me they are worth the wait. You won't get their quality that cheap anywhere else,

#29 ·
Why do they say it only takes them two days then?

Q: How long should it take to ship my order after I place it?

A: Our goal is to ship the same day you order, if you order before 4pm. Currently, we are shipping 90% of orders within 48 business hours. It should be noted that most headlight orders with options are built to match the customer's order. We do not build headlights ahead as normal handling of inventory in the warehouse can lead to damage or mispackaging. Headlight orders will almost always take 24-48 hours to build. Backorders sometimes occur and we may delay shipping. If this happens, we will notify you with an expected ship date. You can also log into the website and check the status of your order online. In the event of a backorder, we will still ship any partial part of your order available. If your backorder is for an express delivery order, we will attempt to call you to get further instructions.

I don't know dude, welcome to reality i guess. If you want a cheap kit(as in quality) fast, order off Feebay.

#30 ·
If you want to pay 3 times or more for a crappier kit than order from Feebay. DDM is top shelf.

#40 ·
Well ... Most HID's including the ones that are sold by DDM come form the same factory in China.

I would go with DDM for the warranty and service.

Does the "lifetime warranty" cover the bulbs themselves? I currently run the
Silverstar ULTRA bulbs, which I like, but do seem to have a short lifespan.

For you with this kit, how long of a lifespan have you gotten out of the bulbs?

Thanks.

#38 ·
I have over 4 years (almost 90,000mies) on mine. HID's last a LONG time

#41 ·
I have:
Low: 4300 35W (older model)
Fog: 4300 35W (older model)
High: 4500 55W (installed this past Christmas) Digital

Alright, then what's parking lights??? Sure enough I looked in the alarm manual and it always has the word PARKING in front of it... Are these the turn signal lights? Come to think of it, that's all that flashes unless I unlock it, then the lights kick on and stay on.

#51 ·
Dude are you sh!t'n me? Your wanting to do HID headlight swap and you don't know where your parking lights are? Thats scary....

Ok, here i'll try. Yes the turn signals(AMBER COLOR) are the same as your parking lights. When you turn your headlight switch on but not the headlights those lights that are burning on the sides are your parking lights. Why does your headlights come on and stay on when you unlock your truck??? Thats a new one for me. Mine doesn't do that at all. You ain't been tinkering with your wiring have you?

I hear ya bro.....i'm sure it was a worth while Mod anyway......Funny how quick a thread can run off the road. LOL

#67 ·
By the way... I looked up the law on fog lights.

D. 1. A motor vehicle may be equipped with not to exceed two front fog lamps or two rear fog lamps which shall only be used when visibility, as described in paragraphs 3 and 4 of subsection A of this section, is limited to one-half (1/2) mile or less.

#68 ·
Again, sounds like a judgement call if you ask me. Thanks for looking up the "On the Books Law" for us. I've never been harassed on this law and suspect it would simply be a way for a cop to get a closer look at you.

#71 ·
Where did you find that law anyway? I would think it would be a state by state thing just like headlights on when raining. Its common sense but its not the law in all states. I drive a truck for a living and always follow the common sense theory but you wouldn't believe the idiots that think you don't need headlights in rain, snow, fog or even dark.

#73 ·
Question to those with HID headlights in the highs...
Worth it? I know it takes a few seconds to turn on. Turning them on and off when passing traffic comes- is that too much trouble?
So should I just replace the lows and call it good? Or would turning on the highs give me no benefit anymore?

Where did you find that law anyway?
Oklahoma's court system.

After doing my own research on the Fog lights on during normal weather conditions is purely a state by state law. Fortunately it appears that here in Illinois it is defined as legal as long as those Fog Lights are not blinding to on-coming traffic from a distance measured out to 100 feet or more. So i would say check your state laws and make sure your fogs are not adjusted in a way that they are blinding to on-coming traffic.

If anyone finds anything that contradicts what i have posted please post it so that i can learn from it as well. Legal or not it is always gonna be up to the judgement of the officer that pulls you over for it. The old your word against his. Guess who usually wins that one?
