How do you know your TBS actually works?

I have noticed that a lot of the members on this site have and or rave about the throttle body spacers that are available for the Titan. I have seen that some of the manufacturers claimed that their product produces power and torque gains.
Now for a few years I have heard jokes about TBSs and how they are just another gimmick just like the fuel line magnates (that were supposedly designed to magically alter your fuel somehow) lol. I have known a few people that have tried these TBS on their vehicles and most of them said they didn't feel any difference and one of my buddies from my last base did a dyno comparison with and without the TBS and there was absolutely no difference. The only difference anyone actually noticed was the loss of throttle response.
I'm not trying to start a debate or anything about this subject. It's just that are you just trusting that manufacturers words, or is there PROOF that the TBS for the Titan works? I myself am not a believer of this product until I see dyno proof that there are some TBSs that actually do as advertised.

Z - I have the same question. I've looked at the threads and haven't seen independent quantification of TBS benefits. I've even searched the internet for independent testing result and all I've seen are customer testimonials.

Anyone out there know of 3rd party benchmark testing of TBS's?

PM Shailey, he is here sometimes, mostly over at CT. He has done testing, IIRC, with a Monitor to verify the speed gains on the 1/4 mile. Dyno won't show it as the gains are lowend, below what the dyno measures. It does work, and works very well.

I haven't had luck finding this member "shailey" yet. I'm new and am still trying to figure out how to navigate through this site. Is Shailey this person's Screen Name?

Yes, he's a member. If you go to "Quick Links" in the upper blue tool bar, select "Member Lists". When that pulls up, an option for search member appears on the right. Type in the members name you'd like to find. :)

About Shailey though, I'm not certain of this, but I believe he's more active on the "other" site. :dunno: He's pretty well "known" in the group regardless.

Just do a search on the internet. There are many articles claiming they do nothing...at least nothing worth what you pay.
