Now that the weather is drying up a bit I am planning on giving my Titan it's first waxing. From what I've read it sound like it is best to claybar before you wax.

How long is it taking everyone to claybar and wax there trucks? Do I need to set aside an entire weekend to do it or is it something that can be done in a few hours? It's a beast of a truck so I'm guessing it takes a while.

Claying depends on how much "junk" is on your paint, it may take longer if you have lits of sap or other stuff stuck to your paint. I waxed it yesterday and a wash, claying the hood only(bird poo and sap stuck on) and wax took less than 2 hrs. I didnt use a buffer either. Also I like to use a basic dish soap before I clay as well, no hurt if your going to wax after. Use a quality clay and take your time and dont miss spots, as you will be able to tell. Good LUCK!!

It must have been wash and wax your Black truck day yesterday!

I washed and waxed by hand. But I waxed the wheels and the windows, and all of the chrome also. It took me about 3 hours, but I have a shell so it requires just a little more. Looks awesome though, well worth the time.

I accidentally came onto this method, but I will purposely do it again in the future. It basically divides the clay and wax steps over 2 sessions, to ease your effort.

I initially washed my truck like normal, with the intention of claying then Zainoing (is that a word?). Well, after washing then claying the entire truck, the boss decided that I had other duties, so I was never able to Dawn re-wash, then apply Zaino during the same session, but the truck looked great anyway. So I enjoyed the clayed truck for a week.

Then the following week, after my normal wash, I did a quick Dawn wash to prep for Zaino, then did the Zaino treatment afterwards. This really saved me a lot of re-wash and dry time, that I would have normally have done as part of my original session.

I know, sounds crazy. :upsidedow I use the same wax that I use on the truck, which in this case was mothers carnauba. It helps reduce water spots, lets bugs and bird droppings clean off easier, and just makes the whole truck look slick. I wax the headlights, fog lights, tail lights, rearview mirrors front and glass, etc... Much easier to clean in the future too.
