Personally, I would either install the Banks as is and enjoy it or return it and get something different. Sounds like you just bought your truck, take your time on the mods and make sure you research well before jumping in.

Get the 2* timing advance done, it helped bring back the low end on my '08.
I didn't know 08's could get the advanced done :banasex0r

I'm not aware of anything you can do to modify the Banks to get the torque back lower in the curve. You haven't really lost it completely, it just moved up the curve some. CAI will offset the feel to a small degree as well.

Like stated above, modifications to your stock set up will often show gains in HP and TQ, you just have to watch their graphs on where the gains are, and if it sacrifices in other areas. Take Uprev for instance; they don't really show outstanding gains, but the track times are astonishing and the performance is proven. All exhausts and intakes will show gains(or they wouldn't sell, haha), its all in where you want it.

Now, to answer your question: a smaller diameter Y-pipe(around stock diameter or up to 2 1/4) will get the low end back, but the top HP numbers they advertise may not be what you get. However, if you plan on getting the cams anytime soon, go with the banks as it is designed.

With a good CAI you should regain any loss from the Banks.

i do plan on getting cams later so i'm glad i picked the banks. after reserching for along time on here i kinda wanted the jbas. but i got the bank for a good deal. i like how the banks sounds better. thanks for the replys
I just drove a truck with 3" headers, stock b pipe, 3" true dual Banks exhaust and cams yesterday. I will have to say that I like the low end of my truck compared to his better. We discussed the exhaust a fair bit and If I were you and you like the banks, I would get yourself some Nismo headers and 2.25" Bpipes with high flow cats. You should get back a good bit of the low end and still have the banks sound you love so much. Good luck and happy modding.

The Bpipe is just what we call the short pipe that has the resonator and lower O2 sensor in it and it sits between the headers and Y pipe but is as, if not more important to proper flow than the Y piping. I used 2.25" pipe on my b pipes and 94035 Magnaflow high flow cats with the stock O2 sensors plugged right into the new cats. I am still designing my Y pipe so I can't give you specifics as far as a complete parts list but I will use the Dr Gas Y collector and have them send me the proper mandrel bent tubing to finish off the custom Y piping. They charge 15 for shallow bends and 25 for steep bends. If you figure out what angles and lengths you need and take them to a competent shop and they can weld them up for you. I couldn't find anybody that didn't want to charge me an arm and a leg for mandrel bent pipe. With a lot of shops, as soon as you mention mandrel bends they double the price and I didn't even want SS pipe. There are places where you could buy a premade pipe but I don't know where or how much and I want the Dr Gas Y collector in mine so I'm willing to go to the trouble. Good luck and happy modding.

i love the sound of mine. i love it when im on the freeway and next to someone thats going 45 and i slam on it and scare the crap out of them. lol:thedevil:

HAHA, I know what you mean, I got a BANKS exhaust also. One time I was going down a street and there was a bunch of cars parked on the side of the road, so i floored it and picked up 5000 RPM and all the car alarms went off :smoke:

I have a question: Why does anyone get the Banks if loosing low end is an issue?
I agree with this....you spend 400 hundred plus dollars for an exh system that looses low end power....then you have to spend 300 bucks for a CAI to get the power back, plus a 2 degree advance.

So you have spent near or more than 700.00 for a beefy sound.

I so want to get a full cat back, but am having second thoughts now.

Im confused....I guess I will stick with my Magnaflow muff swap.

Thanks for the info.....do all the cat back systems loos low end?

well you can mod your current banks or buy a used Banks from someone and do this....everything in green is 2.5". I hold the record fastest time on 80shot after headers and the lowest 60ft ever seen. So it works.

this is simple, everything forward of the y-pipe must be replaced to 2.25" including the y-pipe to a 2.25" to single 3"

make sure you use mandrel bends not some cheesy a$$ muffler shop bends, or major performance loss will occur
so from the y-pipe on, if you switch everything from the 3" that the banks comes with to a 2.25" it'll fix your low end?

Not everyone wants to drag race, so losing a little bottom end is no big deal. I haven’t heard a better sounding exhaust than the Banks, I even had a Dodge guy wave me over one day and wanted to know what kind of muffler I had. I did gain a whole lot of mid to top range power with my set up, it screams on the freeway. I guess it all depends on what you want.
