Evening fellow Titan owners,
I own a 04 titan with a non-rockford system with the in dash 6 disc changer.
I'm in the market for a double din unit and wanted to see what others are running. I ask as crutchfield list a max depth of 6.5" and the dash brace.

Of the current offerings on the market, give some recommendations.

I can't recall the model number, but I like my pioneer. No fitment issues at all and it suits my needs of audio and video. I'm sure if I dug around I could find the model number.

The Clarion double dins fit fine. They look great and have all the features you need and are priced reasonable. One of the better units on the market

Pioneer AVH-P3400BH here (no longer available), good bang for the buck at the time. I had the same year and stereo in my Titan as you, just replacing the head unit made a heck of a difference in sound. Still running factory speakers and it has very good sound and nice features

What do you want it to do for you? GPS? DVD? Make pancakes?

I've had several (not in my Titan.) I love Carplay with my iPhone so for me the Alpine iLX-007, or any of the Pioneer NEX units. I personally hate double dins that have huge buttons that stick out so far, so the Alpine is my personal favorite. For significantly less you could always put a Nexus tablet in, thats my plan.

I'd say the normal amenities that come with a double din unit, CD/DVD, video, camera hookup, the one think I don't have a need for GPS.
I do want something that has good Apple controls as my next phone will be a iPhone device.

Brian - I see you have a 2014 and looks that the cavity behind is the same but the placement of the OEM radio is higher vs the 04's thus you have more depth.

Depending on what I opt for I may have go custom in terms of a dash kit to make it fit (without messing the dash brace)

**EDIT I'm aware that I typo'ed on the title.**

I have the JVC KW-V50BT. I'm NOT recommending it, I'm just posting because I had trouble installing it and dont want others to run into the same problems. I got it in, but I had to make some adjustments.

C-Rock, what adjustments did you have to make? What year is your titan? Any pics of your install?

I think on going to error on getting something that is listed as a 'fit' and save myself fabing up a custom dash/trim piece. So far the Kenwood DNX692 looks like the winner in my case.

My truck is an 09 SE.

It has 2 main problems for the Titan. The preamp outputs are in a bad spot and it mounts too deep with the brackets supplied. To get the face of the HU flush with the trim, I had to find 3/4" spacers and longer screws to bring it forward. Even once it's flush, there is a small gap at the bottom.

If you want to use the preamp outputs, the RCA plugs will have to be the type that 90 down or they'll hit a metal bar inside of there and you'll never get it in, even with the spacers. I found some right angle adapters that worked out because I had already purchased interconnect cables with strait connectors. Not a real problem if you know beforehand, but its the type of crap you run into when you go off the beaten path.
