Finally got around to it today. :D

Here's the reverse camera:

For those that are having problems with the reverse camera I tapped in at the connector on the passenger side frame rail. Green/White for (+) and black for (-):

The door lock actuator is screwed in directly to the tailgate skin:

I drilled the hole for the lock rod at pretty much exactly the "peak" of the "hump" in the lock cam:

As it's already been pointed out, the clip for the cam can be tricky and fly away on you, so be careful.

here's my rear cam on bumper. at first I tried to drill through but it was a disaster and didn't even go all the way through, as you can see the paint chipped around the cam hole. Then I went with a Dremel Tool and it was fast and easy. If I would have used it from the start it would have came out perfect but anyways I'm in the process of getting the bumper painted Black amongst other things, good luck I hope this helps someone

I thought I was done modding but I'd like to get a rear camera... damn it!!!

What tip were you using on the dremel? Did you use the correct bit on the drill? Any issues with the license plate lights being so close to the lens at night?

Seems like the camera location in the first post may be better...

Sorry, I missed the replies. :(

I got the camera from my supplier (I have my own business [not advertising! LOL]). It's an Auto-I TH1000S, I didn't like the look of their truck cam (T1000M), I felt it stuck out too much. Camera - Auto-i (Canada) Corp.

I'm using my Pioneer head unit for the display.

I prefer the location I chose for the camera, the plate lights don't affect it and the reverse lights are plenty enough to light the way at night. I can back right up to my car hauler flat deck and drop the hitch right on the ball first shot AND I can see past the 20' trailer when backing it in somewhere (when it's empty of course).

Looks great Greg! I really like the clean camera install and it looks OEM! What's the cost?

My bad, it's the TH1000S camera.

Retail cost is around $180. I don't know if Auto-i sells into the U.S or not.

A bit of a warning, in order to get the camera even with the lock cylinder the hole has to be half on the tailgate skin and half off (IE: just in the plastic of the bib). You'll need to shim the bib side to keep the tension on the mounting nut equal.

I used one of the cutting wheels. I made allot of side to side cuts to form a circle. I know it sounds like allot of work but the Dremel did it in about five minutes. There is absolutely no problem with the license plate lights and the video quality, as a matter of fact the camera has a wide angle lens and has built infra red lights(about 6-8) for night vision and is extremely helpful. I highly recommend you get a cam with night vision. This camera cost me about 40 to 45 bucks at FRY's Electronics here in so.Cali, I went to their website though to try and get you guy's a part # but its not online. Next time I pass by the store I'll get it for you guy's if your interested. I personally like the camera location flush on the bumper and easy install. see my new pics of the cam on my now black bumper. I'm currently working on a forward cam so i can park my beast closer to cars and bushes without scratching my new Blacked out look on my front bumper and grill.:)

Thanks for the great info and feedback. The bumper looks great in black and makes for a very stealthy install! Looks good!!!

How has your actuator held up over the years? I did mine about a year and a half ago (I think?), and now it doesn't lock. I haven't taken my tailgate apart yet, but just wanted to see if you had any issues with yours.
the last time I had my tailgate open, the rubber had cracked completely, but it continued to work
