Here's the secret:

* UNPLUG THE CENTER SPEAKER *

That is all.

Pop the cover, unscrew the 3 screws, pull and unplug the speaker, tuck the wire back in the dash, screw the speaker back down, and pop the cover back on. Done.

You get your sound stage back. You get full stereo imaging. You even pick up some bass response.

The Dodge boys been doing this for years on their Alpine systems, surprised that I haven't found this hack on this forum. Try it and let me know what you think!

I've been playing with the audio settings a little. They're pretty limited, which is disappointing - you'd think there'd at least be a three band eq in that "high-end" head unit. I am getting it to sound a little better to me, but there's a ways to go.

I can't hear much from the rear speakers, so I'm leaving the fade in the center, but I've moved the balance two clicks to the left. It helps move the center of the stage to more directly in front of me. I also have boosted the treble about 5 clicks and the bass up two.

I'm hoping to install a 10" sub over the Christmas break to help with the low end. I'm leaving the stock 8" sub in place under the passenger seat and pulling the signal for the 10" from there. I'll use a monoblock to power the 10" sub, so I've got a little wiring to do. I'm also putting some sound absorbing mat around the front door speakers to try to get a little control over the bass in the doors. They really shake things up at higher volumes, so I'm hoping to damp those vibrations in the door panels and tighten up the sound a bit. We shall see...

Here's my settings. I'm a classic rock kinda guy, so XM is 60's, 70's, 80's, Classic Vinyl, Classic Rewind sort of stuff. I spent a while tweaking and driving and tweaking and listening and so on, and here's where ice settled.i started out with the fade all the way to the back and optimized the rear sound as best as I could, then dialed it forward. More tweaking and here I am. Maybe my ears are getting used to this sound, but I think I actually sounds pretty good. I still feel like I need to address the low end, it's stillmoretty boomy and uncontrolled, so we'll see what happens over the Christmas break...

No, for me the Bluetooth phone works great. I think the nav prompts are primarily through the center speaker, but I can still hear them through the other speakers. It's really easy to pop the center cover off and remove the speaker to unplug it. Give it a try and see what you think.

I have not done this yet but I will give it a whirl. That's my one big complaint is the system seems to be lacking a bit so i have to turn it up louder and keep the bass low or it gets distorted. And I dont mean because its too loud, i mean because the music doesnt sound the best.

Sorry, I don't have an answer for you. If I had the base system I'd definitely go aftermarket rather than the RF system. Sony and Alpine have 9" screens that really intrigue me. Depending on your budget, there are some good systems with much better sound quality and better features than the RF system can offer.

Does this apply to first gen Titans as well?
My '15 P4X with the RF had the head unit replaced less than a year in.
When I got it back from the dealer the sound was amazing!!
Volume at 8 was like the old unit at 30, the max. The sub under the seat actually made the seat jump and bounce like it should.
The head unit identified as "Frontier" when I paired the Bluetooth, and when I took it back in the dealer remedied the situation by "formatting" the new head unit which they hadn't done when they exchanged it.
Well the volume went back to the old, "Gee it sure would be nice if it were a little more powerful...".
It is more powerful. Nissan just doesn't want to be replacing speakers en masse so they downgraded the amps output when formatting the head unit. Bummer.

Actually... its even better than i thought. I was driving to work going man this sounds good now. So count me into the camp that REALLY appreciates this trick.

Unfortunately, manufacturers have many people convinced the more speakers, the better. But in my '05 Titan I have 2 Alpine 6.5" coax speakers, a 10" Alpine sub in a sealed box, an Alpine amp, and I feed it directly with my iPod ... and the sound is incredible. Stereos don't need more speakers, but that's not good for business.

The more speakers you have, the more the audio arrives out of phase at your ears, and that's what sounds like crap ... that's why disconnecting the Titan's center speaker improved stereo separation, and part of the reason the overall sound got better. A sophisticated stereo unit can time the different speakers to arrive at your ears in phase ... at the same time ... but is it worth it to even try getting that exactly right? That's not how music is recorded.

There is a app on the android app store called Super High Volume Booster - Loud Speaker Booster - Apps on Google Play

This will give your music a boost it only works for Bluetooth music you listen to through your phone, attached to your truck. I use it with Spotify. It works great. When you set it up set the volume to 100 and the boost to 19. You will be surprised. Then turn your volume down on your truck. Turn on the volume Booster app then your music app and you will see the difference. I have been using it for years
