has any1 ever tried to make an intercooler into their intake???? i was talking to on eof my buddies about it, and it sounds like it could work... and have some great gains..well at least like 5-10hp but still,,, great for an intake....
im gonna do it when I finish my axle and get spindles... unless another damn part on the truck breaks...
sooo has any1 ever tried this????

If I am understanding it correctly, I don't think that would work. There would be no heat transfer from the air to the intercooler since the air coming into the intake is pretty close to, if not the same, temperature as the air that is suppose to be cooling the intake air.

An intercooler without forced induction just adds restriction, think of all the plumbing and turns. My intake temps are generally about 20F warmer than ambient temps with my stock airbox pulling air from the fender.

That's a little different, though. That's to cool the TB itself, not the incoming air charge.

blk04titan is wanting to basically run a turbo/supercharger intercooler setup less the turbo/supercharger and, apparently, with NO FILTER. Sounds overly complex, a bad idea for engine life, and it would hurt more than it helps because of all the intake piping. What works good for forced induction doesn't necessarily work good for N/A.

That would actually INCREASE the intake temps, the intercooler would be heated up by the underhood temps and not cooled by outside air.

IMO, anything like this is pointless. There's no way to get the air COOLER than ambient temps and so far my intake air temperature hasn't been more than 15-20F more than ambient with the stock airbox.

The point of an intercooler is to cool down the intake air after it's heated WAY up by a turbo or supercharger. I don't see how sucking air through an intercooler would make the air any cooler than what's being sucked in from the fender well, all you're doing is making the intake system more complex and any cooler air you MIGHT experience would be more than offset by the increased restriction you've created with all the tubing.
