Hey Guys,
Long story short, I'm looking to get back into a Titan...I miss my '06 dearly. I LOVE the looks and extended bed length on the King cabs, not to mention the prices. I have an 18 month old daughter now who is currently riding rear facing, but will be going front facing relatively soon. There is a SMALL possibility of adding a 2nd kiddo within the next year as well. She rides with me very rarely but the truck could potentially be used for weekend camping trips etc for all of us. I'm 6'3" and the wife is 5'5".
Can I survive with a king cab or will I desperately regret it?!
I'm just looking for some general feedback on if you have a king cab with children, specifically different age kiddos with various front and rear facing seats. Is there enough room in the back passenger side for most car seats while leaving a reasonable amount of room for the front passenger? I have a Diono RXT (I think thats the model) car seat that is super narrow and very shallow that I learned about on some Tacoma forums which fits great in a double cab Tacoma(these back seats are tiny for a double cab fwiw).
Anyway, thanks for all thoughts and feedback.

I come from a KC Frontier, that had very tiny back jumper seats.. I wanted a Pro4X KC Titan just the way I wanted so bad I had to order it. I think the back seat in the KC Titan are awesome. My wife took two other adults plus luggage in the cab on a overnight business trip 4-5hrs away. One person sat in the back on the way there and the other on the way back. Both adults said it was very comfortable back there. It's actually hard to find a Titan KC that isn't a base work truck trim level maybe a SV.

Check one out, see what you think?

I have an 04KC so not sure if they got bigger in later years. I have used my truck for basically all configurations of single and double child restraint systems. I have a harness booster for my toddler (passenger) and seat booster for my little kid (driver) currently. Based on you and your wife size you will definitely have a tough time making it work as we are smaller than you two and it barely works for us when we are all in the truck. The legal age to move from rear facing to forward facing is 2yo but it is recommended to keep as long as possible so you still have a bit to go.

I have a 2008 King Cab XE, basic as basic can be. I am retired and babysit my 3 three old granddaughter. My granddaughter is tall for her age group. For her to fit comfortably in her car seat (front facing) mounted on the bench seat, I have to move the passenger seat forward to the stops and tilt the backrest back so I can see through the passenger window. It’s a tight squeeze when the better half rides with us, and she is 5’ 5’’. Hope this helps

I bought a SV KC simply because it's just two of us, and a lot of archery gear. Bows and quivers, plus groceries are all that rides in the back. I had a Ram crew cab, and I liked the extra cab space, BUT, hated the small bed! I did get a better deal with the smaller cab for sure, and I really like the extra bed length. IMO, if you want interior space get a SUV, my dad had a super duty, long bed, crew cab, and it was the other extreme, it took a parking lot to turn it around.

Yes, the larger bed is super handy. I'm just a regular guy but I tend to move/haul alot of stuff all the time and the my 6' bed on my current Tacoma has literally saved me several times in the short time I've had it. And SUV is out of the question for me, I need a truck for the aforementioned misc. hauling I do. My wife drives a '17 GMC Acadia.
Thanks for the input.

I have a KC with 2 kids. A 19 month and a 1 month. A rear facing carrier will HAVE to go in the middle. You can fit one plus a forward facing chair right next to each other. My wife is 6', I am 5'10", and we could fit an actual rear facing chair behind the seat. It'll work, but it's not fun.

My 19 month is 36 inches tall so he can easily kick the back of the seat, but you live with what you've got. I had to turn him around to forward facing at 1 year because his knees were hitting his chest.

At 5'5", as long as she doesn't want to stretch out up front, you can make them fit without sacrificing too much comfort. We compromised, sold our 2016 Maxima, and got a 2018 Pathfinder. That's the trip car, and I just use both seats in my truck if I have to.

We have a Graco 4ever all in 1 in the Pathfinder, a Graco SlimFit 3 in 1 in the truck, and the Graco Click Connect carrier with a base for each vehicle.

Thanks for the detailed feed back!
I have a question regarding the rear facing in the middle: I found a King Cab close to my work and went to check it out. I played with my car seat in the back and had some issues with the middle rear. The seat bottom kind of curves inward in the middle and left the car seat awkwardly dangling off the edge. I believe the car seat has to be like 80% minimum on the seat and 20% or less hanging off(sorry can't remember exact details). Does/did yours hang over the edge in this manner?
As mentioned above, my wife does have an SUV and my daughter rides with me VERY rarely, but my next truck will likely be our camping/towing/travel vehicle as well. I had an F-150 Crew Cab short bed and my old Crew Cab short bed Titan but literally hated the bed! I have even considered a crew cab long bed Titan, F-150 or GMC(I'll save that for another thread) but my work and home have tight street parking and I may regret getting something so long but would LOVE the best of both worlds.
Argh, this is a tough decision.
Thanks again for the info.
