Muffler upgrade - stock pipes?

I dont have enough cash to swap out my entire exhaust system and on the latest poll I saw that 7% of you guys are running stock pipes with aftermarkter mufflers. So, I was wondering

what mufflers you guys running?
likes / dislikes with your set up?
Cost?
Notice any difference in Performance or MPG?

I am looking for something thats loud and deep. . .any info or sound clips will be greatly appreciated!

I'm running stock pipes up to my Flowmaster 40, then it's dumped after the muffler. Before I dumped it I did have the stock pipes running out the back in stock form, except I cut the stock pipe just after the last hanger. With stock pipes all the way I loved the sound at 2,000 rpm, with it dumped it sounds sweet @ 1500 RPM. I got the Flowmaster off ebay for $45 brand new in the box.

Id say magnaflow 18 or 22 inch

Can't go wrong with the Magnaflow 40 series

I got the magnaflow 14", and I like that it has a more agressive sound than the 18" or 22". If you swap with a flowmaster, you will sound good, but not really much difference in performance over stock. The magnaflow offers slightly better performance, as it is a flow-through muffler. I paid around $150 installed for my muffler. I think the muffler itself was about $100 brand new. I also welded on a 12" stainless tip and got rid of the gay looking bent stock tip that came on my '05. That made quite a big difference in sound as well. I love the way my truck sounds now!

The bigger the muffler, the quieter it is. 14" is loudest, then 18", and 22" is probably about equal to stock. My 14" magnaflow is plenty deep at low rpm and has an awesome growl when you raunch on it.

I took the banks off last week and put on a 09 stock exhaust and ordered the 18" 2.25 dual in and 3" out part#12278 . The stock pipes brought back the lowend that the banks lost for shure. Magnaflow should be on early next month, got to do some othere dyno related stuff to the truck first.

for sound clips, look through here

i had a single in/dual out fm 40 series with pipes and it was still pretty loud. a lot of drone at 1600-2000 rpms. i wanted a little more performance so i switched to the magnaflow 14" #12226 which is center in/offset out in the oval body. im still running all stock piping with it dumped after muffler. a MAJOR difference in sound. slightly louder then stock at idle, little drone, not annoying around town. but when you go wot, it gets real deep and sounds very good. paid about 80 bucks.

I have a flowmaster 50 series delta flow, love it I turn heads everwhere I go. It is deep no rasp and sounds like a monster truck show through the tunnels here in Seattle. I was told by the guy that welded it up that the 40 series is raspy on the titan at high rpm which bummed me out because I have had 40 series on my other rig. But I am so happy now that I went with the delta flow.

here is my cherry bomb single chamber single in/dual out...
in a word LOUD... No torque loss (stock Y) - no MPG gain noticed due to tires/lift, etc. Sound clips are in the link that htxtruck posted above.

I used to have a FM 40 with 3" piping from the muffler out the back, but a few months ago changed to a Dynomax Bullet "Race Magnum" muffler, dumped before the rear axle. It's the loudest I've heard; very deep, sounds awesome. My only complaint is that at WOT it's a bit poppy. Not a big deal, as I don't floor it everywhere. Got it cheap from Jegs.

I swapped the muffler out for a 70 series SUV flowmaster. it sounded good and I used a universal hanger and bolted it up to the cross-member. worked well and no welding.

I have a full stillen now.

I've got an '08 and my fiance surprised me last June with a magnaflow 18" dumped before axle
Its nice but its a little quite for my taste and pretty poppy with WOT.
I think it's a good muffler if you want to be able to hear your exhaust but not have resonance issues in the cab. Definatly not a head turner.
I'm looking for something a little beefier so I can actually hear my exhaust over my AEM air attack system.
My engine is MUCH louder than my exhaust which isn't necessarily a bad thing.
I like the sound of the borla xr1 muffler but I was doing some searching and found that they only carry 1 in 1 out. I need 2 in 1 out. Any ideas?
Took it to a muffler shop and the guy recommended putting an X-pipe before the muffler but I don't see that enhancing the sound all that much..

I don't want to thread jack but I am also looking for an upgrade from stock. I initially wanted to go with the Banks Monster system, but from what I understand, I will lose the low-end power...which I definitely don't want. I'm looking for something that sounds deep, dual tips, and is a head turner. Possibly the Flowmaster 50 series Delta flow?

Thanks guys:redblob"

The stock out ends up at 3" by the time dumps. After reading tons of posts and Shailey's dyno testing (Titan likes small pipes), I went with the smaller (2.5") out versus 3" out to help back pressure since I now have two outs. Just my decision. I am happy, but gas mileage is down due to my now heavier foot to hear the rumble...LOL
