To get camera to work all the time instead of just reverse you would have to wire the camera to come on either with the truck (ign. wire) or a toogle switch to turn it on and off. To get it to come on in reverse only just wire to the reverse light signal.

You don't need to do anything special to get the reverse camera on all the time. You just select the camera input and it comes on....just like playing the dvd player or whatever source you want. It's hooked to the reverse wire so that it comes on automatically when you put it in reverse no matter what source you have playing even if you have it switched off and are viewing the OEM screen.

The Avelectronic is worth every penny imo.
