Is the PRG Leveling Kit worth $179 as opposed to Top Gun at $89. I understand that PRG has an excellent customer service reputation, but is that worth twice the money?

I personally don't know anything about the top gun. I do have the PRG kit on my truck and have not had any problems! No weird noises or anything else that others have complained about after getting some of the other kits!

Now, when it comes to shocks, moving parts, and comprehensive review of a suspension setup that works for you...PRG is the man.

A billet aluminum spacer is a billet aluminum spacer, I don't see why you'd pay more for one vs another...

The top gunz spacer, however, is an inferior product. It's not billet.

What is billet? Is that just aluminum? Is that better than laser-cut steel?

Do your self a favor and look at the NCD kit as well. If I remember correctly, it's only about ten bucks more than the Top Gun and it's billet like the PRG.

The NCD and PRG are milled from a solid piece of aluminum.

Compare the two. Ton gunz vs PRG. I would much rather have the PRG. I would consider the NCD kit and did until I came across the used PRG kit that I have.

NCD - $209
PRG - $179-$229 (depending on seller)
Both milled from aluminum
Top Gun - $89
Laser-cut steel

I am with you so far. I guess my question is "Is aluminum worth twice as much as steel?"

BTW Thanks for the quick replies!!!

WOW! I bought my NCD about a year ago and although I don't remember the exact price, I seem to remember it being just over $100 with the bump stops. I wonder what happened to make the price double in one year?

I'm no expert so I can't give a definitive answer about whether it is worth twice the price, but the billet aluminum looks and feels like it will stand up to any thing you can throw at it. The welded steel doesn't give me the same level of confidence. Personally, I'd get the PRG.

Yes.. WOW! What a price increase. Back in 03/07 I got the 2" NCD thru a TT group buy for $79.99 and bumpstops for $10. At that time, the normal prices were $89.99 and $15.

I'm not aware of group buys, I just checked NCD's website and it said $209.99.

Thanks Kartman. Makes sense.

I looked into all of them before I bought my Prg. If I had to do it again I would go with PRG. I would rather pay extra and know I am getting what I paid for.

Greg might even have a used set you can get at a discount, if not just buy new and when you want to upgrade to coilover's (and you will) Greg will give you some credit toward the new purchase and trade in the spacers. or just go straight for a set of coilovers because the stock shocks are junk! :hat:

If I get coilovers, is that all I need? How much do they cost?

#21 ·
A lot... ha ha

between 700 and 1300 for most sets...

Overkill unless you're hardcore offroader if you ask me. A decent set of bilsteins is probably a better bet. They will level out your truck too.

What are blisteins?

Hes got a point. Just buy the Coilovers. I got the S***ty spacer and take it from me bro, they suck.

spacers are cool for street truck/light offroaders who want slightly bigger tires and a leveed truck...coilovers are nice because they def improve the nride, are completely rebuildable, and give you the ability of lifting your truck as well
