I was cleaning my truck, and pressed to hard on the ... sifter cover for a lack of a better term... the black plastic piece that moves backward or forward as you move the shifter around to keep junk from falling down....
anyways, i pressed to hard on it and it is now bowed down, i assume i pulled it off of the track it rides on. with this piece bowed down, I can not shift.

I am going to guess I will need to pull that console apart to fix it, but can not figure out how to do it...

Can anyone help me out?

Thanks
Carl

It should be pretty easy to fix.

I attached how to remove the center console piece (the part that holds the shifter gate and the cupholders). Basically, you remove the shift knob, the trim piece behind the center console (youll see in the picture), and then pull up as it is attached by clips.

Once you have this piece off, you can try to fix the shifter black thingy. If you can't do it with the shifter indicator part still attached to the center console, that piece (the part that says D,4,3, etc) comes off with 4 screws. Then you should be able to get the black shifter part back in its track.

Hope this helps, if not, let us know so we can try to help you more. :hi:

when I take mine apart I found it's easiest to pull up and at an angle almost 45-50* toward the rear of the truck. Keep your foot on the brake and the key in too so you can move the lever around helps also. don't be afraid to put some umph in it... the whole things held together with those spring clips like the rest of our dash.
