My gate suddenly was dropping down and heavy to lift so I found the solution here but the guy isn’t either available, making it or responding to contacts so I hit Amazon and ordered this from China. It’s installed and perfect once again. It took about three weeks to arrive.

On my 2012, I replaced that bushing twice before I bought the CNC machined aluminum from a member here.

For my own understanding, the Gen 2 Titan uses the same tailgate bushing as the Gen 1 trucks?
My bed mat was from my first gen, floor mats fit etc, I imagine they change nothing they don’t have to, everything I’ve tried fits exactly the same.
I didn’t see the bushing online as a stand alone Nissan part, the hinge was part of the kit.

I think Nissan did redesign that bushing. I bought one of those aluminum tailgate bushings for our Titans (bought it elsewhere). And when I started removing everything, I saw my existing bushing is already metal and painted the same color as my Titan (color code: RAY, Deep Blue Pearl). So maybe I got lucky with mine, or maybe the Nissan did figure this design out. I'm not sure as well. I didn't realize the bushing was being sold intentionally for the 1st gens.

@Clint how hard (or easy) was it to replace the bushing? Did you have to take the entire tailgate off? I just commented on another thread regarding this topic as well.

I put bath towels on top of my bumper, my son lifted the drivers side out of the cup and rested the gate down, I moved the gate to the left, removed the broken plastic, put the aluminum piece on the right hinge and he put the left side back in place. I left everything connected and it was done in about 1-2 minutes if that. The gate once again will stay balanced when first just opened and easily closes with a couple of fingers.

Yes I’m sure but after the 5yr/100,000 miles you’re SOL. I’m almost to the mileage so figured I would do the aluminum bushing and put it to bed for good. The warranty isn’t forever.

I bought one of these AUTOVIC ones back in June and It wouldn't even come close to fitting. Inner hole was too small, and the outer dimensions were too big. I work in a shop, so I just made my own View attachment 579990

That’s I retesting that your ad says same day prime and mine had to be made in china and it said a 2-3 week wait. Mine fit perfectly and the side wall is thicker than the one you made.

My goodness I’m having the same problem as @2017TitanPlatinumReserve trying to remove the factory plastic bushing. Couldn’t get that piece to nudge one bit. I was also holding the tailgate upwards at the same time while trying to pry it off since I didn’t want to disconnect any of the wires. Might try again at a later date or just leave it as is til it fails to change it out.

right?? Isn’t it crazy how tight/hard that thing is in there? I even unwired everything and fully removed the tailgate. That gave me all the work space I needed, plus some. I’ve pryed and pulled and STILL couldn’t get it out. I guess that’s a good thing though, right? I’m all out of elbow grease. Will try again next time and will capture pictures. good luck @MrCann

Instead of removing the wire harness I used my carpet covered saw horses to lay the tailgate on while changing the hinge. Picture shows the sawhorses. Once I removed the tailgate from the hinge, I just pushed the sawhorses up to the bumper and laid the tailgate down on the sawhorses. Worked like a charm and I didn't have to bother my wife for help.
