Just did 2 drivers doors in the last 6 months, both hinges on mine and dads. Just remove the bolts on one hinge at a time get a friend (or your dad) to hold the door for a min and replace with the new one and shut it to make sure its aligned. Repeat for the bottom one and your done. Easy 20 min max.
I replaced both hinges on my drivers door this weekend.
The correct way to do it is to remove the fender. There are 7 bolts and 5 screws involved to get the fender off.
Remove all screws holding the plastic fender liner in
Remove the wiper arm by removing plug cap and nut then wiggle
Remove wiper cowl covering or at least pry up
Remove hood shock and support hood to hold open.
Remove all bolts holding fender on. 3 on the top along with the strut pin.
Remove the bolt behind the from fender
Remove the 2 bots located in the door opening and the final bolt down by the mud flap
Remove and replace both hinges and adjust so the door does not hit the strike bar
Replace the fender and be sure that it does not come in contact with the door when being open and closed. Adjust gaps as needed.
Be sure to replace both hinges, they are cheap. I didn't get any pictures but its an easy process. Took about an hour start to finish
Replace one at a time but do both while you have it apart.
If your hinge needs replaced the door is already out of alignment so you will need to adjust the door. That can only be done with the hinges snug but not tight. Keep in mind that the HINGES are stamped out of a piece of steel so each hinge is going to be different. No 2 will be the same.
