Were (Titancanuck, Myself, and Iceman-Tx) are doing both of these mods Sunday...well my T gets the Tranny mount, and Titancanucks gets the driveshaft spacer. And Iceman's T gets 3" blocks to replace the 2inchers.

Oh and we're gonna drink many a brew...lol

Thanks for the pic.
So I jacked it last night and here's what I found.
A crappy design since they all fail way too early. Seems like it could be made out of more durable material?

No problem, and it looks like you will be putting one in. They aren't that hard though. I thought someone had mentioned that before but maybe Greg or somebody could look into making a better one.

In my case I had been noticing and clank when letting off the gas....thought it was U-joints.........still do because the front driveshaft U-joints are both leaking and I think the back on on the main drive shaft is bad too so I ordered Spicers with grease fittings.

Anyone know of a better rubber mount replacement??

thread necromancer coming through...

just my 2 cents....

can we get a thread sticky??? this seems to be a reoccurring and huge problem in titans especially when lifted...

also...

FANTASTIC write up! i just encountered this problem on my T with only 48k on it.

EDIT:

any idea if this can be covered under warranty?

hey guys i have been doing some reaserch and have found that the mount for the nissan Xterra is solid steel wrapped in more steel! it is super rigid and looks like a possible solution for our transmission mount problems, as it has the EXACT bolt patern, has anyone tried it yet or heard of anyone trying it?? its also like 60$ cheaper than the titan mount. lets see what we can find on this!! and discover if its a permanent solution.

Good Luck with warranty... depends on your stealership and service manager, most will "lifted voided that warranty" crap...

interesting find indeed... you should try the swap and let us know... I got PRG Traction Bars when I repaired my second tranny mount and fixed my issue with the tranny mount tearing under any type of load, as well as eliminated the axle wrap issue... but this could be an inexpensive solution for those on a budget...

please do find out if this is a fix for the titans and if it causes any extra vibration or noise being that it is made of steel and more steel.

I googled alternatives hoping to find a polyurethane mount but no one makes one...yet.... but i did manage to find a company that seems that they have a better design than the OEM and for a cost of $60+ shipping!!!!

just google nissan titan transmission mount... you'll see it.

i get almost the exact same feeling in my truck when braking only, do you think it could be the same problem?
Braking should be fine, it's the takeoff from 0, you'll hear the clunk... Easiest way to find out is to just crawl under and look at it from the front of the crossmember. Or you could always stomp on the gas from a stop, if you hear a loud awful slamming noise, your tranny mount is done for...

Has anyone else found out any additional information about the T's mount breaking and how to resolve? Here is my story so far...

2006 Titan - 6' suspension lift - 3 inch body lift. Never have taken it off raod because of mount issues I'm having.

First time mount went out Oct 2009. Replaced it
Second time it went out May 2010. Replaced it
Third time it went out Sept 2010. Had it replaced and also drive shaft extensions added.

Fourth time just happened last week!!!!

I will be changing it out myself this time from the good info provided here

I am aslo going to to add the traction bars. Has anyone had any luck with finsing a solution? I took it to the dealer and the company that installed the lift they were kind on the third time to pay for the driveshaft extensions.. But I keep having this problem. I'm not a heavy foot off of redlights so I can not be sure of shy this keeps happening!!!!

It's not just due to our lifts, the mount itself is poor design and quality... No real fix other than traction bars... I replaced my 3rd one at about 30k mark and installed traction bars at that time... Over 85k and have no signs of the mount even being stressed... ;)

My friend in Houston had a broken mount. Everytime he excellerated the axle wrap caused the drive shaft to push up on the tranny (thus the clunk), Before he fixed it himself he put on T-bars. Guess what? No more clunk on accelleration. He replaced the tranny mount and has been good to go for 2 years. Btw, T-bars are probably my favorite mod to date.

Yep....added the Tbars after my mount went bad and before I replaced it...the clunk stopped and after I replaced the mount no more problems..Just went out and crawled under my T...mount is still good-to-go. I agree with Kev..T-Bars one of the best mods to date on ol' Frank (my T).

Could you guys post some pics of your T-bars? I would like to see what they look like and how they are installed. I am going to check my mount tonight. I do not have a cllunk problem but I do get some bed bounce on the freeway and am wondering if it could be this or rear struts.

Thanks!

Anybody have a pic of their traction bars installed? Would prefer to see the "street" version since PRG doesn't have a picture of them on their site. 54K easy miles on my truck and two motor mounts and tranny mount are shredded as per the dealer. $1800.00 was the quoted price to replace them. Gotta love the dealership.

P.S Did anyone find out if the Xterra tranny mount would work???

Im experiencing the same symptoms that everyone describes as the broken tranny mount. My truck is a 2005 CC 4x4 LE (not lifted btw, completely stock suspsension untill next thur/fri.. goin to 6" lift). Ive been working with Greg and today he dropped off my lift kit and goodies and we got to talking and he mentioned 'Broken tranny mount'. I asked him what the symptoms were. And i have that dead on, pedal to the floor..... lots of noise under the floor board and launches like crap. So feeling compelled I researched by reading a couple of the threads on here about it, then went out and rolled under and took a look and snapped some pics. I have no idea what its supposed to look like, if its a one piece or two piece thing. But the screws are completely backed off and basically laying flush against the crossarm. Now, this mount is one complete piece right? Cause mine appears to be two now lol. Photos ala the iphone 4 lol.

So this thing is broken right?

PS. BTW I drive this bad boy like I stole it so i wouldnt be surprised if it was game over for the mount lol
