Truck Bed Platform - For Sleeping/Loading ATV

Hey guys --

Been searching around a bit for ideas on building a bed platform for sleeping in the bed of the titan. I recently bought a SoftTopper, and am excited to use it for overnight trips. I was to build a platform in the bed of the truck that would be there permanently. But when I fold the Softopper down, I also want to use the bed to load my ATV/Snowmobile.

I would like the platform to sit above wheel wells for maximum width for sleeping/storage. The platform would have to be thick enough to support the weight of a ATV or a Snowmobile obviously. It would need minimum support from underneath, so I can store ATV ramps/gear underneath platform.

Anyone ever do anything like this before? I am not the most crafty of people, so any suggestions, photos, or step by step instructions would be useful.

Thanks!

Here is one idea

Wood is going to be pretty heavy. Do you know anyone who is good with aluminum fabrication? That's the direction I'd go to save weight and maximize structural integrity.

on word Bedrug. its got 3/8" padding on the bed portion and it has little padded rails that go in between the louvers in the bed so it makes a nice surface that is flat and padded. after that you just use a queen sized air mattress and it works great. other thing is the bedrug is fully water proof, scratch resistant, acid resistant, it wont mold and it looks sweet. you can rid your 4 wheeler up in there with mud and dirt and when you wash your truck just wash out the bed like normal and every thing is all good.
