Put this behind my 2020 Pro4X with a 2014 S1000rr which is about 442 lbs and highway driving at 73 mph on cruise and watch my computer drop to 12.9 mpg, which if i did the real actual math is probably 1.2 - 1.5 less than displayed. This trip was today gerting my bike services, and i didn't see this thread or i would have showed all pictures. Motorcycle dealership is 57 miles from where i live.

Took a 160 mile trip to pick up a car for a friend and here are the fuel economy numbers.
Truck is 2019 nonXD p4x 5.6 gas 25K miles bone stock.
I was pulling an empty uhaul car trailer one way (2100lbs)
And loaded with 74 Alfa Romeo GTV back. (4500lbs combined)
I was driving 75-80 on the highway both ways about 130 miles mostly flat with some hills, the rest was hilly backroads.
I normally get about 17-18mpg empty (no trailer) at those speeds.
Empty trailer i got 12.7mpg
Loaded i got 12.2mpg
I was surprised to see such a hit on economy for the empty trailer, and even more surprised to see such a small difference when loaded. Not much wind resistance on this tow, and it's really not that heavy.
I used tow mode when on the hilly back roads, but not on the highway.
Overall I was quite impressed with how it handled the tow. I never felt a major drag from the weight, and I never felt pushed around by the trailer.

Good to know...

I will be towing about 4000lbs on the regular pretty soon so it’s good to know what to expect. Saying goodbye to my 18-20mpg average 😩

Wow, 75-80 pulling a uhaul, I would never trust their equipment to hold up.

You do you, but while this is my first towing with the titan I used to haul alot of trailers and equipment with my F350 and F550 and it has been my experience that uhaul stuff is some of the most rugged and overbuilt out there. As with anything you got to do a thorough pretrip, but ive never had an issue with a uhaul trailer.
Your mileage may vary.

You sure can do you, except the rest of the public is in the road when you do you that and that puts everyone around you at risk. I too have rented their stuff and have had bearings size and other things done by renters who beat the snot out of things they don’t own. Lastly is you fo you like this and if somethings goes really wrong like a blowout resulting in injury or death due to negligence and you may very well end up with a cellmate who thinks you’re cute.
I will continue to do me and be more considerate of others on the road and tow at a reasonable speed and get there a little later.

I did some towing over the summer with my 2019SV CC non XD. Towing the car on uhaul trailer @4500lbs combined, i was getting better gas mileage then when I tow my small travel trailer, despite the TT behind lighter @3500lbs dry. With the uhaul/car I was getting around 14 or 15 mpg and with the TT i only get around 12 mpg. Both on the same highway staying around 65mph. My guess is with a vehicle in tow it is much more aerodynamic. Planning on going to a bigger TT next year but Im not actually expecting the gas mileage to be much worse since Im already towing a box on wheels.

Good advice especially for longer trips!
I didn't check the price on that this time but it's usually been my experience that the one way trailer rental is two or three times more expensive than round trip, at least for 1 day rentals anyway.
I paid under $80 for one day rental and $20,000 of insurance including tax.

I recently towed a 6x12' U-haul cargo trailer from New Orleans to Colorado Springs. The speed limit most of the way is 75-80, so my average speed was about 78 mph. On the same trip empty, I got about 17.8 mpg. With a trailer in tow, I got 11.5 average. On the first tank, I just so happened to be driving through a hurricane so gas mileage took a hit at 9.5mpg over 166 miles (my worst ever). The highest I got on the trip was in Colorado at 13.3 mpg.

We have about 10k miles towing our 27' Jayco. It regularly weighs in at about 7200lbs and we get anywhere from 8 to 12 mpgs. It really depends on the terrain. This picture was taken before our trip from Mountain Home, ID to Arcadia, OH. We averaged a little over 9 mpgs for that entire trip. The truck never struggled, even through the mountains, but I do not go above 62 when hauling this rig. Just a personal comfort thing.

I will say, with the Equalizqer setup that we have, I was able to drive one handed (if I wanted to) with zero issues caused by passing semis and Mid-West winds.
