So, we're all aware that our ECU's with a stock tune won't let us go wide open throttle until 40 mph. We're told it's because we don't have enough weight over the back end, or something similar.

Now... we also know that certain ECU tuners on the market will remove that.

I know that if I punch it from a dead stop my tires will spin for a second or two, and then the slip light comes on and the truck bogs a little and takes off. So, if the tires will spin from a stop withOUT being wide open throttle...

What good would it do us to remove that? Wouldn't it just make it that much harder to launch the truck without sitting and spinning the tires?

It would up the fun factor quite a bit, but it seems like it would lower the performance of the vehicle.

Annnnnnnd discuss.

IMO, the true benefit of this is that once the truck is rolling... which means, NOT just flooring it from a stop, but controlling the throttle... you will have WOT power a lot sooner into your run. That means what, maybe 1/2 to 3/4 second in the 1/4 mile? If you're going faster sooner, that equates to faster at the end and quicker overall.

Mine is a 4X2 and goes WOT on takeoff, and I don't have any modifications.
And yes, I spin the tire, as long as I keep on the gas!!

Your wheels spin off the line because, according to your profile, you have an 05. 05s didn't have that 40 MPH governing issue. That did'nt start until the VVT equipped 07s I believe. My 08 won't even come close to spinning its tires from a standstill. And right at about 40 MPH, you feel a real kick in the pants and she takes off.

My 04 had the WOT governing on it. Interesting to hear some members say their Titan doesnt have that feature. *scratches head*
Ahhh... the disabling features of a life spent doing crack.... :jester:

Oooooh, one of you is wrong, and I can't wait to see who. Gladiators, defend yourselves!

side note: my buddy swears his 06 won't spin the tires. Mine won't sit there and shred them, it just spins for a sec then the slip light comes on and it stops. It's a very weaksauce burnout.

I'd have to side with Royboytoy on this one... My '06 is governed. It's not something they just started putting on in '07. Some older trucks just seem to have missed that. Look around. Some have the VDC, but they forgot to install the button on the console to switch it off. Stuff gets by on early design models. Every now and then, you get a factory "morph".... :dunno:

I can't speak for any other Titan......mine for sure was help up by this "feature". It's just odd to hear some did & some didn't. It was an eye opening experience the first time I floored it after the flash. I knew NOTHING about the WOT thing until I was timing my truck in the 1/4 one day and noticed that at a certain point in my runs my truck was ALOT faster than it was from the start.

I have no VDC button, but something definitely kicks in and starts to govern my traction. I'm not crazy. I can feel it. :upsidedow

You gotta check the inverse triangulation of your flux capacitor, bro.

Get in her.......and pay close attention when you floor it how it reacts at/after 40mph. If you have it, you will feel an almost extra 25hp "kick in" at 40mph. If not, yours doesnt have it.
