Hypertech is proud to announce the release of its first programmers for the Nissan Titan, Max Energy part # 62001 and Max Energy E-CON part # 63001. And while there has been no talk of Hypertech developing tuning for the Titan please know that we were quietly developing and testing our Titan programmers for some time. Dynamometer testing and tuning development began in January with hundreds of pulls and comparisons performed since then, not to mention the miles of driving with and without a trailer to put the final dyno tunes through their paces on regular and premium. Once we were satisfied with the tunes we began our Beta Testing program with hand selected Titan owners who we knew would give back definitive feedback to help us perfect the tuning. Knowing that the Titan tuning was in development, I began reading Titantalk.com some time ago and I must say that I’m very impressed with the level of knowledge present on this forum. And from reading previous posts I feel I pretty good idea what questions most of you guys are going to ask:

Q: How much power does it make over stock?

A: The final testing on our AWD Superflow dynos showed +19HP & +17 Ft-Lbs with Regular Fuel and +23HP & +21Ft-Lbs with Premium Fuel. These gains were measured with our bone stock 2006 Titan, and were only measured after the torque converter flashed (above 3500RPM) to ensure the power gains are real, and not a fluke of non-repetitive testing. As with all of our dyno testing, consistent intake air temperature, coolant temperature, engine and transmission oil temperatures were maintained between runs to guarantee repeatability.

Q: Is WOT restriction removed?

A: We have improved the off-the-line performance by increasing the rate at which the TPS gets to wide open, but we have not made the vehicle undriveable. In short, we have not fully removed the WOT restriction from the tune. Although fully removing this restriction (aka Torque Management/Traction Assist) reaps big gains at the track and looks cool on videos, we really want to offer a better solution for all of our customers. Those customers who tow or haul on a regular basis or those who drive in bad traction weather (ice, snow, mud, etc.) could have serious issues with an overly responsive throttle. We are still working on a fully encompassing solution and will add the feature to the Max Energy as a free update once it has been verified properly.

Q: Will 04, 07, 08 Trucks be supported?

A: The initial release of the Max Energy will support the 2005-2006 Titans and Armadas with the update to support the 2007 models coming very quickly. We are currently still Beta testing our tuning in 2007 models, and expect that to wrap up soon. That update will of course be a free upgrade for the Max Energy and Max Energy E-CON.
Currently the 2004 Titan trucks which have the previous generation engine controller are not supported, nor are the 2008 Titan trucks which have the next generation engine controller. I don’t want to leave you guys out in the cold, but I cannot say when those controllers will be supported. We are aware of your excitement and disappointment, and hope to offer a product for your vehicles in the near future.

Q: What is the difference between the Max Energy part # 62001 and the Max Energy E-CON 63001?

A: The Max Energy part # 62001 has both regular fuel and premium fuel tuning, allow you to change your top-speed limiter and rev-limiter, and can read and clear DTCs (Diagnostic Trouble Codes). The Max Energy E-CON part # 63001 only has regular fuel tuning and only gives you the ability to read and clear DTCs.

Q: What are the cost of the Max Energy part # 62001 and Max Energy E-Con part # 63001?

A: The Max Energy part # 62001 has a minimum advertised price of 379.99 and the Max Energy E-Con has a minimum advertised price of 329.99.

Q: Are there any dyno videos?

A: Currently there is a dyno video on Hypertech’s youtube.com channel Hypertech TV.

That’s all I can think of right now, but I’ll be checking the forum often to see if there are any other questions and just to update you guys on what we are doing here at Hypertech. Oh and look forward to some videos of dyno and track testing

Thanks for being a vendor and for releasing some products for us.

My first question is, does either programer have the option to change the tire sizes? I know you guys have something that does this! That would be a great feature to include!

I might as well ask the other questions that I have too.

1. Can you run an intake and exhaust and still be safe? Has this been tested? Any more gains with these?

2. Reports before said that this would use one of your hand held tuners, the pics look like this is one you'd mount in the truck.

3. Where are the dyno charts?

4. Any MPG increases with these?

Thanks!

Thanks for surprising us Darnell. How much of the WOT restriction was removed, 10%, 30%, 50%? Is that feature offered on both Hypertech models? You're showing great gains with the 87 tune, any idea how that was acheived since your numbers are much greater than what Bully Dog or Uprev could do on 87 octane?

Right now the only way to adjust for tire size changes on the Titan is to use a Hypertech inline speedometer calibratior.

I just saw that on your web page. It looks like you have to mount that up behind the dash, Is there anyway to change it once its installed if you wanted to go back to stock size for winter tires etc? It looks like you'd have to remove the whole insturment cluster to get to it.

Another question.

Does this unit allow you to do the 2 degree timing advance like the BD unit does?

Thanks!

are all 2004's using the old controller?? how would we know which '04 runs have the compatible versions?

hmmm....

I would have liked to see those gains a lot lower in the RPM range. I hardly ever drive my truck up in those RPMs....

Thanks for supporting the Titan and as the other poster said, welcome to the jungle.

Just a comment on your post above regarding the WOT issue. Instead of limiting the throttle, I think we should limit the drivers, those who can't learn to drive a Titan in any weather or terrain with WOT should sell the Titan and buy a Ridgeline, I'm sure they won't have any trouble then, lol.

so is the superchips is still getting the most hp and tq for the 91octane. but the is hypertech is better than the BD? a hell of a deal. I would like to know more about the removal of the WOT

umm..how did you come to this conclusion??

actually..nvm i don't want to turn this thread into some others we've seen

i'm just glad to see all these companies offering tuners for our truck...about time
