Steve - I agree that some of the posts get out of hand and you have to agree that some of the service departments in the country do not work to the same level you work at. Read the posts and be helpful. Unless someone comes out and points the finger at Statesville Nissan do not take it personally. Some of the frustration comes from users on the forum being better informed than the dealers. I recently added a Moto Guzzi to my garage and after having an issue with the clutch did a little research. I found that it is wide spread and well knows that the type of clutch will fail on that motorcycle and the VIN# range has an issue with the hardness of the cam lobes. I made a service appointment and when I went to the dealer I was told that he had never heard of these issues. I asked him to check the TSB and he told me not to believe everything I read on the Internet. I now have to bring my bike out to a dealer in Ashville NC because I trust them to service the bike correctly.

I brought my VW Passat in for a recall to replace the spark coils. The recall clearly stated that they would have to replace all coils in the H or K series. I made the appointment and the day before it was to be brought in the car died. I got the car back several days later and trusted that they knew what they were doing. On the following weekend I went to put new plugs in the car. Imagine my surprise when I found that only one coil had been replaced. I called VWNA and they directed me to another dealer. The dealer confirmed that the dealer only replaced one coil and charged VW for all four.

If you read the various threads you can understand why some people have had it. Human nature is to report what is bad and not what is good. If I could go to a site and get each dealer’s Customer Satisfaction Rating I would buy my vehicle from them.

Any information you could share that does not violate any corporate restrictions on your behalf would be much appreciated. I do not have the brake judder issue yet but I do have the ticking noise from the engine on the passenger side, the CD / radio volume issue and the A/C drain issue. I will resolve the A/C issue myself once the weather clears.

Just scheduled my 7500 mile svc, to include the "Brake Judder" and radio issues. The svc rep was well aware of both TSB's. He confirmed that for the brake judder, they turn the rotors AND replace the pads (per the TSB). He indicated the ads were different/better than what was originally on the truck, and should fix the problem - we'll see.

Nope, it doesn't fix it and they aren't any better...just a ground down rotor now that needs to be redone again in less than 7k miles....total on the truck now is 20k miles.

Just got of the phone with my service advisor and he told me the TSB for the permanent brake fix came out today. He has my parts on order

The TSB# is NTB04-066A. It dose not replace the calipers.

I can't find that TSB# anywhere, even on http://www.nissanhelp.com/bulletins/Titan/2004/2.htm

Can you provide some more information please?

Call (1-8oo Nissan1) and they will confirm the TSB # for you. IT came out on 8/16/04 so it's new. the old # was the same (NTB04-066) they just added a A to the number. thus (TSB NTB 04-066A) it's revised from the 04066 TSB.

My service advisor told me yesterday when I dropped of my Titan to get the radio fixed (works like a charm now btw) that Nissan is sending out kits next month to address the brake judder problem. It is a heat issue with the pads, which will be replaced. Didn't say anything about replacing rotors or resurfacing, etc.

Here is the info you need to tell the service dept. for the brake TSB.

Did this fix your brake problem? I am on a waiting list; my dealer says their monthly allocation for this TSB is 4 kits per month.

Well it seems fixed for now. Yes, they are brand new rotors, pads etc...everything but califpers it looks like...We'll see in 10k miles or less whether they warp again.

Chris
Thanks for the feedback. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you now and me later.

I had been on a wait list for the new brake TSB with my service center (brake kits were on backorder). On Tuesday, my already mushy brake pedal began going all the way down to the floor just to stop normally and a couple of times it held to the floor for a moment after I lifted my foot off of it (just like other posts we've read about). Called my service guy and he said bring it in first thing next day so they can check the brake booster. An hour after I talked to him I get a call from the parts guy telling me my brake kit is in and to call service for an appointment - what timing! So today (Wednesday) I took it in thinking they would take care of the brake pedal problem in addition to the TSB. They did the TSB which involved changing parts (as per the earlier post by Titanone) plus resurfacing and turning the front rotors (I have less than 3,000 miles so no new rotors for me). They also bled the front brakes. After doing this, the pedal feel improved. They inspected the brake booster and found no problems. After driving it myself, the pedal feel is much less mushy but still not stout--I was told that is normal for the Titan so I'm o.k. with that. If the brakes get mushy again they will probably change the booster. I also plan on checking the torque on the lug nuts myself.

Hey Fellas

This is a fix for the brakes. I just got mine done today at my dealership in Fort Smith, Arkansas. They replaced the Rotors and the Pads. It takes about an hour. I drove it hard afterwards and it seems to have worked........

Just wanted to give you guys a heads up. I've been testing a set of Ceramic pads for the Titan. Per the vendor I had my rotors cut prior to installing and bedding the new pads. The vendor believes that the "warped" feeling is not due to the rotors actually warping but to poor pad material transfer to the rotors.

I've got about 1000 miles on the Ceramic pads now. Which includes 600 miles of towing a roughly 6800lb load. I have to say that I beleive that these will be the best bang for the buck brake mod you will be able to do!

On my tow trip a fool decided to brake check me on the 401 in Canada. This was not a smart move as I had 12,000lbs coming towards his bumper. The truck stopped very good prior to the trailer brakes ramping up to their full output. Also at one point I forgot to turn my brake controller on and the truck stopped 12,000lbs pretty damn good on just it's own brakes!

Since returning from that trip and driving the truck without trailer in tow I have to say the following about them.

1.) The dust *WAY* less then the stock pads
2.) They don't fade like the stock pads
3.) They STOP LIKE NO TOMORROW

I'm working with the vendor and Mossy Performance to get them put into production in the next few weeks. Keep watching on http://www.nissanperformancemag.com for details on them.

I had the latest TSB done and the front pads were a brand new part number and it eliminated 90% of the brake dust. They must be ceramic, and I don't have that judder yet after 1000 miles.
doubt the TSB pads are ceramic.

But Tirerack carriers ceramic pads. Sounds like that is the way to go.

I bought my Titan in January and my brakes have always been pretty soft, but lately they have gotten really bad. I had to make a hard stop the other day and I couldn't, I ended up rear ending someone because I couldnt stop in time.... when I took it to the dealer to see if any mechanics were badly damaged, they must have adjusted them, or done something without telling me, they seem better now.
