So, let me get this straight. I bought a new IPDM off of Ebay and i do have the receipt. I can now take this receipt and submit it to customer affairs or whatever it was, and get reimbursed for the entire IPDM? Plus, I should still take it in for the recall even though it's a new IPDM?

Thanks
Um, No. If you buy something from Target you cant go return it to Wal-Mart, right? Nissan has NO obligation to reimburse you for something you didn't purchase from them originally. I can buy a lot of things of eBay, but that doesnt mean I can start going to the manufacturer for some form of reimbursement when something goes wrong. There is no proof in the integrity of an item when its purchased second hand, even from eBay, even with a receipt.

And none of the IPDM's have the new relay in it, so yes, take your truck in for the FREE replacement with a known good part.

BTW, IPDM stands for Integrated Power Distribution Module.

A simple "no" would have sufficed. And BTW, yes, i can take something to Walmart that I bought somewhere else. besides that, we are talking a recall item that relates to safety, not a tshirt that doesn't fit me. An OEM part is an OEM part right?

I was also under the impression that Nissan did release a new and better relay for our trucks and it has been in all newer IPDM's that have been bought. it's just that now they have made it an actual recall item. Just because it's a recall as of 2 days ago doesn't mean the proper relay wasn't out on the market for years now right?

I meant no harm, but since you took the offensive...

Good for Wal-Mart. But any GOOD business wouldn't refund someone on something that they did not originally sell in the first place. If your saying that I can go on eBay and buy something for half of the MSRP and then turn around and take it back to my local retailer for a refund then you have just informed me of a great way to make lots of money and possibly commit fraud all at the same time. And as I said before, you have no way to prove the integrity of anything you buy off eBay. Just because it says "OEM" doesnt mean anything.

And if its the same relay that has been in the newer IPDM's, then why did you ask if you should have the recall done to your truck?

Because you stated this:

My question was simple, and I apologize for taking offense to your post. I have learned to read the worst in posts after being a mod on other forums just to keep things from getting out of hand. Having said that, after i read your statement above, I was questioning whether the IPDM i bought a few months ago did in fact have the new relay design. I was under the impression that they knew of this problem for quite a long time, and have already upgraded the relays in newer off the shelf IPDM's. it's just that now they are making a recall of it.

I guess the bottom line is that I should take my truck in for a full replacement and keep the current one that's on there as a spare. Thanks all.

As far as I know, None of the new IPDM's have the relay that is part of this recall as far as part numbers go. There hasnt been an IPDM that had Nissan part numbers on the relays yet to my knowledge and part numbers are the main issue when it comes to liability.

With that said, who knows what your IPDM has. It may very well have the new relay in it, but eBay is know for knockoffs and inaccurate postings. I could never trust something like that. Which is why I cant see someone else honoring the part for a refund...

Getting the recall done and keeping the one you just purchased as a back-up sounds like a great plan. As a matter of fact, it's probably not a bad idea for anyone to keep a spare around until we see how this recall works out.

It is very simple. If you bought the IPDM from a dealer then you would get the refund of that parts price. If you bought it somewhere else then no refund.
The recall will only replace the relay not the whole IPDM. So if you still have your old IPDM & put it back in the truck & take it in for the recall then you will have a spare just in case.

How can I find out if this Recall applies to my T? (without taking it to the dealer?)

Thanks,

Gus
Well, undoubtedly all Titans will be covered under this recall, but not all at once. When you fall into the bracket of VIN's that they are notifying you will get a letter.

Otherwise let me get your VIN and I will check to see if it comes up for your vehicle yet. :hi:

So what is the replacement P/N for a new relay if we dont want to screw with this recall? I'd rather go to Autozone and do this myself if I can.

Is that info out there, or does anyone have it handy?

Edit: nevermind......search function works wonders. CM1a-D-12V

Not even sure that you can get this from Nissan. I have some relays left that I am selling, but I am, unsure of the "new" nissan part.

Why would you not want to "screw" with this recall? It is a free replacement of the relay. Autozone will not have the part yet. You cant even buy it yet from the dealer. They are reserved for the recall right now.
