so how much faster is it with headers and uprev to 100 mph.....HUGE difference or just "i can tell" type of thing...? i want to go faster but cant afford to blow 1500-2000 on mods that arent going to do much for me!

i almost want to say forget the headers and get nitrous with uprev.....hard choice

It felt like i lost power at first when i got my header's installed, but after getting re-tuned i definitely felt a gain. Header's w/ an Up/Rev etune is a substantial gain. It's not just peak HP/TQ, it's more power all the way across the powerband! Where's Deerslayer? He know's the exact #'s & how they correlate with track times. I'm not sure how many tenth's their worth in the 1/4... :)

It depend's on how you use your truck... I just look at nitrous differently i guess. It seem's like something i would just use at the track. I want to have the added power all the time! :)

Unless you're OCD like me and buy all new OEM gaskets.
LOL... According to my wife, I am the poster child for OCD! :bangit:
Thanks for the info...

I recommend re-using the OEM gasket's where you can & buy another set just in case you have a leak.
Thanks for the info, that is exactly what I'm going to do.

I cant imagine what a 2wd must feel like. You better have it pointed in the right direction before getting on it.
That is exactly what I am hoping for. :teethmast:teethmast:teethmast

I'm heading to Uprev (Austin) next Wednesday to have Doug Thorley Long Tubes, Berk B-Pipes, and a JBA catback installed, along with a dyno tune. I'm excited.

I don't have headers but I went from a 14.37 with Superchips and stock b pipes to a 14.18 with Uprev and 2.25" crush bent b pipes:) Headers and Uprev are worth .5 to .6 in the 1/4 mile. Well worth $1500 IMO:) Or $1000 if you install the headers your self.

Hey 08crew you'll gain .4 or .5 over and above superchips with Uprev and headers.

I dont know about "to 100". But, its f-ing fast. From idle to redline it feels like a different truck. I already had my Etune waiting, so I loaded it right after the install. It feels faster now then it did in the video.

I'm usually disappointed after installing a performance mod, but not this time. Its bad@ss.

You might not like the JBA's muffler with that combo.. Nice low and bubbly, but not deep. Step on it, and it sounds like a big block '70's Chevy with dual glasspacks. Atleast that what some my fellow 'ol geezers say and they like it. Drone is noticeable but not overpowering on the hwy. I don't like the sound, so I'm bolting on a Magnaflow 24", 7" round muffler to see if I could get rid of that glasspack sound.

LMK your thoughts when you get yours bolted up.. Man I want some of that Uprev.

It took four 18" Magnaflows to get my exhaust note as quiet as it is. Some guys like loud, but not me. I would probably try to make it even quieter, but I'm afraid 600 lbs of mufflers would offset the HP gained from the headers. Its about as smart as trying to make a lifted truck fast.

^^^ wow, almost looks like 3 drive shafts, 1 installed and two spares hung underneath for easy field repairs... But, I imagine your exit is very toned down... Post up a sound clip...

As for headers and HF cats/pipes being worth the money, YES they are... I am untuned, with 2degree advance, JBA with custom 2.25" pipe to HF Cat exit to 2.5" pipes to exhaust and there is noticeably quicker acceleration in higher range... the climb from 65-100 feels effortless, because prior to my headers/cats upgrade, it took a lot to get my lifted heavy 35" M/T's to accelerate between 80-100 range, and now it glides up to 100 without having to rock back and forth in the driver's seat... ;) I plan on UpRev this early summer as well and can't wait until then...

Dang muffler's! I think you tamed the beast! Hey, what ever sound's good to you, your the one who has to drive it every day. :)

I'd like to hear what that sound's like.

Its definately not quiet. It sounds nothing like stock. Has the "hollow" header sound to it and really growls on startup. But, at cruising rpms you can barely hear it in the cab, and not at all with the radio on.

Cool! That's why i love this forum so much!!! Everyone has different setup's & it's really cool to see what other people come up with! I used to like the no-cat sound from the VK56, but now i think i like the catted sound even better!

If you are able, try to get a startup & rev video!

I like how mine "explodes" when I turn the ignition over... Scares the crap out of old people loading up groceries, parked next to me... I had a nice old lady tell me, "you're liable to give an old lady a heart attack..." I apologized kindly, and she chuckled as I drove off nice and slowly...

LOL Mine is the same way... When i turn over the engine it sound's like a shotgun blast! Especially When it's cold & the engine is warming up the RPM's are a little higher & it sound's amazing!!!

I can't park in my friend's driveway anymore. I had the old lady next door tell me she was going to "lay me down" the next time i revved my truck up next to her house. She was referring to shooting me... LOL ...but i never rev it, i'm just starting it. She said she was sleeping in the living room & fell out of her chair when she heard it start up.
