Hello everyone, I recently purchased a 2007 Nissan Titan LE, crew cab, and it didn't come with a manual. I'm curious as how to engage the 4WD on the truck? I see the knob next to the steering wheel, but not sure how to engage it properly. Do I turn the knob to 4WD while the truck is in park or drive? How fast do I need to be moving to turn it on properly?

This may sound like a dumb question, but I just want to make sure I'm doing it right. I have owned some older Jeeps and to engage the 4wd, the jeep had to be moving at a certain speed or it could mess up the gears and stuff. I don't want to mess up the nissan titan by improperly engaging the 4wd...

Thanks everyone for any help you are able to provide.

For 4HI it can be anywhere between 0 and something like 60 mph.
For 4LO you need to be stopped and in Neutral when engaging and disengaging ... 30 mph max, and 12 mph max if you have the elock, and it's locked.

In all cases, only where you will get wheel slippage, like in dirt or snow.

That is correct except to engage 4low you must be stopped, in neutral and with the brake pedal depressed. This same process is the only way you will get your truck back out of 4low. I would also highly recommend not driving in 4wd hi or low unless you are off the road. Off road means anything that is not paved like concrete or asphalt.
You can of course use 4wd in snow or ice on paved surfaces. You just want to try and keep the truck on a surface where the drive train does not get into a bind, getting the drive line in a bind happens really easy while turning.
Use common sense and you will be fine.

All good info up there ^^^

I wouldn't worry about how fast you go while engaged either. The way our drivetrain is setup, the front diff is always turning. 4wd just engages the CV's. Deerslayer and I (maybe a few others too), have run at the 1/4 mile in 4wd into the mid-90's with no issue whatsoever...

1/4 mile is different, straight line, just seconds on the clock...I wouldnt drive at high speed for extended periods of time with a load on the front diff.

Wrong. The 4wd does not engage the cv axles. The 4wd switch just engages the transfer case. Everything up front is always engaged.
Thanks, I knew it was engaged all the time but apparently didn't know where it was disengaged.

Frank, I only said that because I've seen a few posts here (and several people in person) that get freaked out by driving over 60mph in 4wd. It's definitely ok

Directions for engaging 4WD should be on a sticker above the driver's side sunvisor. That said, the directions you got here mirror those.
