I voted but it was pointless for me to do so.
Currently there are 29 out of 250 votes that are YES.

Even if you get 1000 votes, (and the rest of them are all NO), 29/1000 x 100 = 2.9%, which is not even close to the real numbers, and with 500 vote close to 6%? Come on.

I still believe it is closer to 1/10 of 1% if that.

Also, in the future, at least make the poll public, (where the username is recorded with the vote, and we can see how many posts they have made before voting on something that is such a troll magnet), and don't give an end date - just bump it every so often. Still not random but if several thousand votes and the small posters are manually removed, maybe a trend could be observed.

But 3% or 6% No Way! (Even if mine blows chunks tomorrow).

Your not going to cut me any slack are you?!!! :) As I stated before I believe the failure rate is around 1% based on the dataset I worked with (which was larger than the NHTSA report data set). I didn't make the poll public because I felt some individuals may not have felt comfortable with their usernames being listed. Trolls are just another uncertainty although I doubt there are that many troll votes in the poll. It's a snapshot poll because I can't add new models (without moderator intervention) if it is continuous. There are a few trends that are already evident. I'll post a few observations once the poll closes.

BTW, The attached picture represents the second pile of axle assemblies a single dealership in FL has acquired. I really don't think the failure rate is 1/10 of 1%!!! :D Thanks to milowills for the pic. I have more if anyone is interested.

Seriously, I do appreciate your comments because it helps make sure I have considered all variables. Thanks for the vote too!

'06 - 4x4 - no problems so far - voted a few mins ago..

regardless, failures are still failures

And as other's have mentioned - although the % failure per number of trucks with none (reporting) is small - it still is enough for people to take action..

thanks Toxman for at least getting some numbers..

04 - 4x4 problem with mine. I was going to rotate my tires and notice the axle seal was leaking on the pass side. It looks like it was leaking for a while from all of the grim everywhere. Took it to Nissan today, and they pulled top and bottom plugs out and found metal shavings on both plugs. So they ordered me a new rearend up with the aluminum cover on the back. I have 24700 miles on mine. I should have it fixed some time next week. They told me they already fixed (6) Titans with this problem. I'm about ready to trade this in for a 06 Chevy Duramax crew cab 4x4.

05 4x4 mine went out at about 10k miles

2004 4X2, BT. I voted yes. My diff didn't actually crater, but it was on its way. Cover was toasted and rusted. When they checked it, there were alot of metal shavings inside. So, they replaced it before it actually failed.

Well my SECOND differential blew up... im quite pissed off now, atleast i could diagnose it instantly lol.

Well we got 319 votes. Mo wehre near what I was hooping for. We may have 10,000 member but looks like only a fraction of us are active. I'll see if there is anyhting interesting tha tcan be drawn from these numbers. Thanks to all who participated!!!!!

I have owned three Titans. First two were 04s but over a yr apart. Each were traded w/ over 22k. Both gave me 0 problems the 1st was 2wd w/ BT se kc. Best milage 20.9 over 600 mile trip. Mostly freeway driving w/ a good bit of in bed weight & over the factory limit. 2nd was SE kc 4wd. Best milage 19.1 only on one tank. Average over the road was 17.8.
My current is an 06 SE BT CC 4wd OR. Before I put a Reds Beds cover on it, best over the road milage was 17.2 After the install of the bed cover, & this was on the same 3875 mile trip, best milage hit 19.9 average after the cover was 1.6 mile gain per 87 fuel. Started trip out w/ 2k on this Titan. I do the speed limit 0 less & 0more to the best of my foots ability. Currently there are no motor or related mods.
I must say the in city milage really sucks at 14.7-16.

On the 4wd 04 Titan the dealership changed the rear diff. fluid w/o telling me, in advanced, & at no charge. They offered no reason as to why or where this sudden free syn fluid came from. Yes I did inquire as to why.
