I just had my trailer and boat weighed about a month ago. I have a 293 Mako with twin 225 evinrude o/b, carries 240 gal fuel and 30 gallons of h2o.
The trailer is a triple axle with brakes on all axles. Tanks are usually less than 1/2 full. The commercial scale placed it at 11,400 lbs. Now I know this is in great excess however it is amazing how strong this truck is..will stop on a dime and has no sway issues and pulls steep ramps very well in 4 wheel low or high and has plenty of power on the road. I will obviously purchase a diesel 3/4 as soon as possible...new Chevy looks good, unless Nissan comes through, but in the mean time, this thing is a beast. And I realize all the risks before all the nay sayers chime in!

This is what you need for the job.

Can I go fishing with you, please...... I'll buy the bait!

Hard to believe the big deal made about towing weight at low speeds. The frame and engine will certainly handle it, and 4 wheel LOW will do some amazing things. I hooked my Z71 5.3 sierra to a 70 foot downed pine tree laying flat, via a logging chain and my reciever from walmart. Yanked it and on the third jolt I got her rolling in four wheel low and moved the sucka around to a new location in the yard with no ill effect. You may say nay, but I'll never forget my victory dance, and I popped a top on a cold one, and enjoyed the look on my uncles face.(I love 4 wheel LOW)

My uncle tows a CASE(think it weighs 6 tons????) backhoe and a gooseneck with trailer brakes with his 87 3/4 ton dodge at highway speeds, and its just a 318 with a 200xxx mile 727 tranny. Been doin it for years.

I have towed well over 8000 pounds with an 87 1/2 ton ext cab F150 (300 I6/4speed)and it wouldn't stop on a dime, but I compensated accordingly.

those 300 6's would pull hell off the hinges... i had one...

Depends .. You could do it...
I need to know some things to better understand what you are trying to pull.

1. Weight at the hitch -
2. Are you using any kind of Weight distrubition?
3. Electric brakes?

I would call the local boat storage yard and ask for a quote.

all i can say is i saw a acura mdx towing a 3axle boat on the freeway. had to be at least 9000lb's. my mom has an mdx and its rated at 3500. boy was i shocked!

^^NOw that is just somebody STUPID right there. My neighbor used to tow his 4500lb boat/trailer with a front wheel drive caddy, he couldn't understand why he had transmission issues,. I didn't even try to explain.

That is just plain scarry that there are people that stupid out there.

Hey Helinut,
Maybe you could drive out there and help him out with the Duramax. DEEESUUUL POWER.
