Hi,

I need to remove the (3) knobs-AC, fan, temp., on my Titan. The black part on the face has scratches and the dash interior light shows through...looks tacky.

Do the individual knobs just pull out, or are they integrated with the whole unit? And anyone have an idea on cost?

TIA :)

is there a trick to removing them or do i just need to man-up and give them a good tug? i've tried to take them off but was afraid of breaking them...

thanks

The three outer covers of the dials just pull straight off. Then give the center console cover a tug. I usually start from the top and work my way down, it just clips in there and sometimes needs a little effort. Make sure you do not pull the console cover all the way off as there are at least 5 plugs in the rear. The plugs are easily removed either by a snap release or a slide lock. Once you remove the console cover you can remove the guts of the unit with a small torx screwdriver (4 screws), if I'm not mistaken. Open the box containing the 3 selector switches with a small flat-head screwdriver by gently pushing on the tabs holding it together (4 tabs). Mine came open very easily. Once you have opened the control panel exposing the circuit board you can just gently pull the temp and selector knobs by pulling straight off. The fan speed controls has 2 torx screws that need to be removed from the circuit board then gently pull straight back on the knob. This is a good time to see the led's and light bulbs that illuminate the panel, some people have had successes painting, replacing or even coloring there bulbs and lights. Only if thats your thing. Good luck...

Thanks for the reply.

As stated, the outer ring pulls right off. And the center switch section also does pull out, just needed to pull a little harder. I did not need to take off the console cover. Just pulled on the inner and outer knobs.

Piece of cake.

Thanks to all to who responded. :)

I'm also curious about replacement lights or led I think they are actually very small incandescent and two of mine are burned out
I just pulled off the knob to get a closer look. It look like an incadescent bulb but the base of it seems to be solder on.
I can see the filament glow when I switch on the lights. Trying to see if I can remove it without tearing the dash apart. My lights is still good so I don't want to break it. LOL.

This is the closest thing I can find to this, it's the light in the 4x4 switch but I'm
almost positive it's the same.

EDIT: Should have left it alone, playing with it now all 3 lights are out.:D

The bulb to my fan speed control is out. I am wodering if anyone has replaced any of these bulb. Do you have to remove the console and main control unit as list in a previous post. I have already pulled the knobs off and looked behind the console but I'm hoping there's a simpler way to replcae the bulb.

Unfortunately they're soldered on. You'll need to solder new one on with resistor.
