The wife has ultimatley given me her titan in trade for my armada!! Its a 06 KC 2wd SE non fosgate system. Here is what im after but dont know how to go about it.

- Sub box w/ amprack or convient place to put an amprack (subthump.com offers a box w/ amprack for about .6^3 space)
- Subs. Cheap but not ridiculously cheap they sound terrible best bang for the buck situation and wether or not they will work with a tech12volt box or someone elses box.
- Amp. Im planning on upgrading the speakers all around which is my next question. 1 or 2 amps? or will a 5channel amp handle a pair of subs and door speakers?

- Door Speakers? Cost effective but sound good.

- Reciever. I WANT a double din in dash reciever but know i will not get it. so i was thinking alpine or pioneer single din reciever. Whats a good one? Basically want MP3 support and Sat radio and if possible use the stock sat radio reciever so i dont have to put another one in?

I have been doing alot of reading and dont know which way to go. I hear alot about memphis, JL, Kicker, some other brand that starts with a "A" and im freakin bafffffffled! So if someone wouldnt mind shedding a little light on my situation that would be awesome. I guess it would also help to tell you the kind of SOUND im after. I just want something a bit cleaner and louder than stock and the bass to FILL the music so to speak. i dont want the bass so overpowering i can rattle the mirrors on the car next to me. I had a pair of audiobahn 10's and a old skool 600watt fosgate punch in my last truck with a LOC and it did the job. But on this truck i would like to at least replace the deck and door speakers to sound better/cleaner..

Thanks for the help in advance fellas.

You found the right place.

Head Unit - Pioneer Premier DEH-P880PRS
Amps - Memphis, Sundown Audio - 1 mono and 1 2/4 channel
Subs - Memphis, Stereo Integrity, CDT - 1 or 2 10's sealed
Box - Tech12volt - These are custom to individual truck and sub
Comps - CDT, MB Quart, etc - Don't spend too much and you can run the rear factory speakers of the HU if you want to save money
Wires - KnuKonceptz

You can purchase everything from James of tech12volts. He will take care of everything you need and do it in style.

How important are rear speakers?

not that important at all for sq . but if you have people riding in the rear you may want some nicer ones.

I sense another future happy tech12 customer. :)

hey guy, we're in the same boat it seems. There's so many choices that I haven't even started on mine yet.

oh, you need the metra 7406 dash kit (not 7606) if you don't have dual climate controls... that's as far as I've really gotten on the research, there's way too many choices for everything else.

I'd say DLS MS6 should be great for the money for front comps or maybe some diamond's if you can get them cheap.

Don't run the rear door speakers off the HU they are 2 ohm and could overload the aftermarket HU unless you first verify it is 2 ohm stable. You can run them both in series to either R or L but that would be stupid and it would be better to disconnec them. I have a KC so I used some DLS top of the line coaxles, it was not worth it because I have them hooked up to the HU and you can't hear them at all over the amped fronts. (But they are handy because I can open the rear doors 160 deg and turn my amps off and listen to music outside the truck without killing my battery. Just went a bit overkill with the high line of coaxles.

I would go with an eclipse HU SD if thats whats your going to end up with, just don't buy the cheapest one. Their mid level is very nice for the money. I have sceen some really cheap for sale on car audio forums. I have a CD5444 and it is excelent for the money I paid, not flash but very good quality no Sat on mine but their newer HU's support it.

I'd HIGHLY recommend ascendant audio subs AA Assassins if you on on a budet and are looking for SQ. However they are all sold out and may not have any instock for another month or two. Might be able to find some used ones for around $70 shipped, extreamly good price for a good quality woofer. A single AA Assassin might be enough for you. I'd offer mine since I'm switching to 2 TC 1000's (was not able to locate another 10" Assassin) but I'm not sure I want to part with it yet. Arc Audio woofers (Arc series w/ black cones) also sound great and are cheap on ebay.

Amps - get something of decent quality that fits the dimmensions of where you want to mount them and the RMS and Impedence of the speakers. I liek seperate amps but a 5 channel would be easier to mount if you jsut want to run a single SQ sub.

I would look at these for comps-
Pioneer Premier TS-C720PRS

They had an excellent review by Car Audio Magazine. Not to mention a couple seasoned veterens in car audio put them through the ringer at www.diymobileaudio.com and gave them excellent reviews.... The price is fairly cheap. Some people can't believe how great they sound....

But if money is not a big concern then its Rainbow all the way.....its pretty sad that there mid level tweeter put several higher end tweeters including home audio tweeters to shame......LOL. Seriously, Rainbow is about the best it gets..

not to hijack this post, but I've got the same questions as the original poster.

It looks like components are gonna cost me around $150 a pair for even decent ones. here's a link to the one's I've been considering...http://www.crutchfield.com/S-kmx64MYTUV9/cgi-bin/ProdView.asp?g=410&I=049RUA216

They're mb quarts, which I understand is pretty good stuff. I just want something with a little more bass that the coaxial 3 ways that are much cheaper. Are these a good pick?

Also, what about the rears? in this thread, it's been mentioned that the rear's aren't as important. Can I get by with basic cheap coaxial pioneer's or something back there? Will they distort and sound lousy?

I have tried a couple of different MB Quart offerings and never been pleased.

If it were my money I would be looking at the diamond d6 line. As far as I am concerned they are the best speaker you can get for <$200.

I hear Quarts are harsh / really overly loud tweets. If that is what you want then go for it. Remember you will need an amp since the stock HU puts out 2 ohms. I heard some diamond Hex's and they are definately decent, but being a DLS fan I would choose DLS MS6 over the D6's although I have not listened to them personaly not having listened to either.

Components are not really going to put out more bass than coaxils or 6x9's they just allow you to mount the tweeters in a better location and typicaly sound better since you have a crossover (most coax do not), and allow for better imaging.

If your going to spend money on aftermarket stereo at least get components for the Titan since the tweeters are already in the dash and 6x9 in the door.

2 way coax is enough, no point in getting 3-way IMO more speakers is not always better...

What is not to understand? This guy does not want bone shattering bass. Sealed subs is a better fit for his needs. Read the original post.

I use CDT speakers and I really like them. I like to be different and not have the typical box store brands. Depending on your budget you can pick from a lot of options to give you the sound you want.

http://www.cdtaudio.com/car_audio.htm

This would be a pretty good deal for you. It will give you the front speakers and the rear coaxials to mount in the rear doors.

http://www.cdtaudio.com/UP-629CF.htm

You also get a 50 dollar credit towards a CDT sub. I went with this one.

The red SQ 10". James built me a box for it and it sounds great.

If you want to know a place to get a good deal on this stuff let me know and I'll send you the info. You can probably get a better deal then what is listed on the web page.
