Has anyone deleted the ABS?(tone ring/wheel speed sensors)

I’m getting ready to swap 2003 Ford one ton axles and 42”s. Goal is to keep it relatively low….

I’m expecting ECU issues. I don’t care about lights, just want the motor, transmission and t-case to work right.
 
No but they have quit working on tons of vehicles I owned in the past
 
Why not use a newer Ford axle that does have ABS?

On my '07 Titan, when the sensor wires broke, the transfer case wouldn't engage. There may be ways around that, but it's an inconvenience, at the very least.
 
Ok, let's see how many heads explode...
I had my ABS unit get water in it before I ever owned it. This caused some severe issues at times with the it activating at moderate speeds/normal braking. So when it got to the point of not working at all I deleted it and put on a Wilwood proportioning valve and having it completely replumbed. We left the half of the abs valve body attached to the wiring harness so the ECU could 'see' it. Everything is basically fine besides I have too much pressure going to the calipers. (All new calipers, rotors, pads, booster, reservoir) To compensate for this in the interim, I've left air in the lines. I don't drive her far till I either get this issue figured out, or the situation improves with limited driving.
Do any of you fellers have any ideas to share? I've already gotten plenty of haters from the younger crowd, but figure since I've driven more trucks without ABS than with, I should be happier with this setup, lol. Only lights present is the 'brake' light.
She's a 2004 Crew Cab with original engine/ trans. and 209,000 miles. Anything y'all got will surely be appreciated!
 
Well, I'm not the younger crowd, but I'd say you have only one real option - reverse all the makeshift, rigged up stuff you've done, and get a working ABS module (maybe even from a junkyard?) and fix the issue properly. Otherwise you're likely to never have proper pedal pressure, and one day you're going to kill someone.

For reference, over 50, started driving when I was 12, had over 2 dozen vehicles (almost half without ABS) and I think you're begging for a vehicular homicide conviction. I hope you're not on the road anywhere near me.

Gotta ask: what brings you to that conclusion? You said plenty, but didn't give any reasoning. Ya see, I watch all sorts of fellers driving their pro mods down the street and no one ever stops them to tell them about their up coming vehicular homicide...?
Now, I'm not hating on you and I'm pretty sure I mentioned that I'm not driving her far or much till I get it all worked out... So I don't think you or anyone else has much to fear from me and beast.
I was asking for possible solutions, to which you did supply, but telling a feller he's gonna commit vehicular homicide isn't a very friendly way to do it, sorry.
 
Never claimed to be friendly. Just honest. How I see this progressing is you sticking to this current scenario and becoming comfortable with the braking, and eventually driving further or more, until you get into an accident because you couldn't stop properly. You're driving a 5k pound missile, and you've purposefully modified the brakes to significant known deficit. But, hey, if you believe your own tales, go for it, I guess. But it isn't a very friendly thing to do to drive on a roadway with a vehicle you've purposefully modified in a dangerous way and to potentially cause harm. It's downright hateful.

And again you've glossed over what I typed. Many MANY people change their braking systems in their vehicles. It required careful calculations to which I am still working through. Till then I DO NOT drive the truck out of my town (25mph). I came here looking for suggestions to a particular issue I'm still working through and you have taken that simple question and turned it into your own personal crusade to bash what I'm doing. You need to stop acting like this is facebook or youtube with your social media troll comments.
You and I are roughly the same age and I'm not an amateur; just not as comfortable with brakes as I'd like to be. Don't think for one moment that I take any of my modifications lightly. And as far as braking goes, I don't use ABS, rather I'm old school and ALWAYS pump my bloody brakes. Now please, ease off that hate crap, you don't know me or my situation - just answer people's questions IF you have a good answer for them, otherwise take your two cent thoughts to the socials.
 
I've been to winter driving school where the ABS system was disabled. I grew up without ABS. I'm less concerned about your ABS system being deleted than about the high pressure in the brake system. Too much pressure could cause a failure when you least want it.

Yep!! And that's what I'm trying to figure out... how to decrease the pressure. Looking like I may just have to change the master to a different bore or larger volume calipers, but I'm no brake guy, so I'm not sure in the least. Any ideas in that direction?
 
I'm a stock brake guy (DIY). If I was in your position, I would contact Wilwood.

I think I need to add more details...
When I said that I left air in the lines, I'm not certain that I did, just said so as I only opened that bleed valves till fluid started running, no pumping involved. They could be fully charged, but for certain, my brake pedal doesn't go to the floor in the least. She stops well at low speeds (25 - 30 mph) and I left the fender liner off for now so I can check for any leaking... that's my main concern here: having that pressure too high to where it could blow out a line.
One more time: I DO NOT DRIVE THIS TRUCK OUT OF MY TOWN OR ON HIGHWAYS. I drive it up to the corner mart and to the post... that's it gang. I'm not out testing this around other vehicles or unsafely. And this isn't my daily driver any longer.
