I noticed a small leak on the bottom side of the radiator, passenger side bottom. It is not the house but is leaking from the threaded fitting that threads into the radiator and the hose clamps to. Can I tighten that fitting to see if I can get leak to stop. What's the purpose of the fitting/hose and what does it go to? Need help please

No. Do not tighten that fitting. It will introduce coolant to your transmission and cause your trans to fail. You should stop driving the truck until you change out the radiator (and it's a good idea to bypass that segment of the trans cooling circuit while you're at it).

Best option is Koyo all aluminum radiator and an external auxiliary trans cooler, but thats expensive (about $500). You can do just a Koyo plastic tanked replacement for under $200. Auxiliary trans cooler will be another $80-ish, plus $20 worth of hose. Not required, but a good preventative.

Most important thing is don't touch that fitting, and don't drive it any further. Check your trans fluid for coolant infiltration, as well.

Exactly what Dubyam said 👌🏼

A pic would help but it sounds like you just need to tighten up the hose clamp or replace it with a new one.

If it's the fitting itself it might be time to replace/upgrade the radiator.

Yeah - pics would be good. I made the assumption you're talking about the trans fluid cooler fittings and small hoses on the bottom tank, but maybe you're talking about the larger radiator coolant hoses that run to the engine?

That is a trans cooler line. Runs from the warmer/cooler in the lower radiator tank up to the OEM trans cooler sandwiched between the radiator and AC condenser. Don't tighten that fitting. You need to confirm whether it's coolant or trans fluid leaking. If coolant, you're going to need a radiator swap ASAP and stop driving it until you get that completed. If it's trans fluid weeping, go buy some trans hose (not fuel line) from the parts store and some worm clamps and replace your trans lines and clamps. If you don't, they'll cut loose and you'll burn up your trans after you dump all your fluid.

Does the Prestone come in something that matches the Nissan blue coolant spec?

Just like oil, power steering, and brake fluid, you should be using coolant which meets the prescribed Nissan specs for your vehicle. If you did not, you will eventually have issues. The solution is a little messy but not terribly difficult. You'll need to do a full drain and distilled water flush and drain, then refill your coolant using a vacuum refill to be sure you don't get an airlock.

Check your specs, as I'm not sure what the 2006 used. Could be Nissan Blue or Nissan Green. Flush with distilled water and replace with the proper spec. Prestone, Zerex, and others make coolant spec'd to Nissan's coolant, so you don't have to buy OEM.

If you replace your radiator, you're going to need to refill anyway.

That's exactly what mine looked like when it started to crack.

So yourself a favor and go ahead and replace it.

In my all aluminum CSF I use Prestone 50/50 and the rest distilled H2O + 1 bottle of Redline water wetter.
