Well you are on your way to the best truck on the road.

I have a 4x2 and love it, better gas millage than the 4x4, less to break, BUT if you need a 4x4 you would probably regret settling for a 4x2 and YES they make a Tru Track for the 4x2 search around here and you will find many posts on it, apparently it's the ba**ls I wish I had the extra cha ching for one myself..... on the other hand it gets you out of the Dodge, up to you...

I think the 2wd with tru-trac and some decent tires though would keep me happy.

I just can't get over how bad *** the Titan is compared to my Dakota...

I guess if I wanna get crazy in the mud-riding and what not I could always get a beater old Toyota or something....

If you really want a 4wd, you will probably regret getting a 2wd. But like you said you can always pick up a beater 4wd to play in the mud. And you don't have to live in a place that snows to NEED a 4wd. You wouldn't want to live where I live without a 4wd, and it barely ever snows here. Even if it does it only lasts a few hours.

I have to agree with helo on this one. If you pick up a 4x2, just get yourself an old Jeep or Ranger to mud with. You won't have to worry about damaging a $30000 brand new truck while you are having fun, either.

I don't worry to much about damaging my truck. I used to worry about it, but now I just use it like it is meant to be used. If it breaks, I will wash it real good and bring it back to the dealer and tell them to fix it. My dealer doesn't give me any trouble with warranty work. After buying 4 nissans through the same dealer in the last 10 years they want my return business. Just have fun with it and worry about that kind of crap after it breaks. There is no reason in my mind to buy a 4wd, and not use it. If you don't ever get it stuck, then you aren't trying hard enough. :cheers: :cheers: :cheers:

J/K.... :lol: Apples and oranges, CDN... You're considerably more Northerly and snow is a fact of life for you. Not the case in all Earthly latitudes. Down South, it's mud or swamp to play in, not snowdrifts.

The basic fact still remains, a 4x2 will get better fuel mileage, have no front differential issues, and for most, serve the purpose of having a truck. 4x4 is more of a toy/luxury to those who need/want it.

Personally, I love my 4x4, but it's not necessarily for everyone. That's all. :cheers:

 

I was in the same spot you were in a couple months ago. I really, really wanted a 4x4. But after weighing the increased cost and the % of time I would actually use a 4x4 ....made my decision that much easier.

Why would you want to go beat up a brand new Titan 4x4 in the mud? Especially if you're going to be buried in it for a while?(compliments of the Dakota)....Go get a beater for the mudd'in fun, get the spank'in new 4x2 Titan for everyday. Take advantage of that huge rebate opportunity.

You've definitely narrowed down your search to the best....MAN this truck is sooooo much fun. I keep telling my wife, it's like having a the muscle car I've always wanted, but with a bed!

Why not? Just as many lift and suspension goodies for 2WD as there is for 4WD.... Nuttin wrong with a lifted 2WD..... :dunno:

Ditch the dodge, it doesn't even deserve a capital d. I was 6 grand upside down on my 02 dakota 4x4. Traded it in for an 08 KC 2wd 5000 in rebates, 6000 for the trade. It worked out to 1000 to pay off and 4000 down. As far as I'm concerned worth every penny. Get the TITAN and dont look back, well maybe to see some of the big three in the rear view mirrior!!:cheers:
