Hello TitanTalk! I am new here and have been reading up on exhaust posts trying to figure out what I need. I have a 2010 crewcab and I believe she needs a muffler upgrade. Due to $$$ situations the muffler is the only option for me. I am liking what everyone is saying about the Magnaflow and the low cab noise (for the wife and little man). What do I need for an exact muffler replacement??? This is also my first Titan and I'm LOVING it!

A 18" magnaflow is a good choice if you just want to do a muffler swap.
Part # 12258 . Dual 2 1/4" inlets & single 3" exit . Any muffler shop can weld it up for around $100 .

This is true 18 might be loud try a 22in instead. I had the same set up 22in before my supercharger, was very nice! And if there is a drone on either size just have the shop put in a H-Pipe and it will vanish. ALSO, NEVER,NEVER go to 2.5 pipe stay with 2.25 before the muffler then stay single out 3in unless you have a Supercharger. You will lose MPG and lots of lowend by doing 2.5 before the muffler, I tell you this from experaince with my Titan. I have had 6 different set ups total the 2.25 in and 3inch out is the best. Unless you do a Y BEFORE the muffler then the story CHANGES, but the first way is cheapest.

I have the 18" Magnaflow as well. Sounds nice, except I have this very annoying metal rattling noise that I cannot pin point where it's coming from. The exhaust guy couldn't find nothing either. I get this vibrations from underneith at low rpms.

Did you check your heat shields?

I did a muffler swap with a Flowmaster 70 series and am very pleased with it. It is just a step above the stock exhaust sound and is not crazy loud.

I have the 22" Maggy under mine also. I have it set up into duals. I couldn't imagine a local shop charging more than a few buck to weld it, especially if you buy it from them.

Oh yeah, love it.

I'm also a fan of the 22" Magnaflo love the sound 90% of the time but it does drone when cruising 60-70 mph. I'm thinking of adding that vibrant ultra quiet resonator that Nightowl recommends

Sounds really good Nightowl!

Keep in mind I have headers and that makes it louder. That'd be why I added a resonator to tame it again. If you have stock exhaust manifolds do the cat delete on the secondary useless cats and get the 22 inch magnaflow and it should be close to what I have. The 18" magnaflow is another more radical option. Pm me for the cat delete mod.

Sorry to bring back up an old post. I was talking to a friend today that told me about the Cherry Bomb Vortex. They make a "drop in" muffler replacement for the Titan exhaust size. I was watching a few youtube videos and they state they made the Vortex to kill drone and keep a good sound. I was wondering if anyone has experienced them??? Again sorry to bring back an old conversation. I just want to get all my info before paying for it.

I added Magnaflow true duals about a year ago and love them. Instead of doing dual pipes out of the back of the truck I drop both pipes 12 inchs out of the muffler and it sounds awesome. The neatest thing is people look all around the truck looking for where the pipes are and can't find them. Plus the wife loves the sound so that's a plus.

I can check it out tomorrow on my way to work and get back with you on how it performs at certain rpm's. I have had no issues with unbearable drone though

Checked on my way to work today and noticed little to no drone. The only "drone" was noticable when i was driving at 1700 RPM's and even with that it was manageable. Hope this helps

I looked up the #12258 on the Magnaflow website and it is saying it is 2.25 to 2.5in. Are we sure the number is not a #12278? I thought the T's had a 2.25 to a 3in pipe? I would think that would bottleneck the exhaust if it was a 2.5 exit wouldn't it? Anyway...Flowmaster or Magnaflow....I can't decide.

The outlet of the tail pipe is 3", outlet pipe off the muffler is a little over 2 3/4 and the inlet pipe to the muffler is about 2 1/8. So yes the #12258 2.5/2.25 is correct, the measurements Magnaflow provides are the inside diamater of the pipe. I didn't measure the 2.25 side, but the 2.5 end, outside diameter is just under 2 3/4 inches. Mine is sitting in the truck waiting patiently for it's appointment to be installed.

Just been driving back and forth to work, about 3 miles each way, all city. Haven't really been able to open it up, I do suspect there is a drone about 1600-1700 rpm. To be honest I usually have my stereo up pretty loud, it may bother some, won't bother me any. if I'm on the highway and it starts annoying me, I would just go a little faster or a little slower to stay out of that range. I'm having a hard time staying off the pedal, love the sound it puts out. I'm guesing it will get a little louder as it breaks in too.
