Column vs floor shift Transmissions

So.... I'm in the market for a used trans. "It's all burned up in there" to quote the mechanic....::crying::

Does it really matter whether the source vehicle is a floor shift (as mine is) or column shift?

How about locking/non-locking rear?

Weird enough it may have to do with the shifter cable attachment as Nissan does ask if it has a bench seat or not.

Rear End changes Speed Sensor in the Tranny to properly sync speedometer/ ABS/Shift Points etc. . Very application specific. All brands similar issues. I already knew, but am getting a 5K $$$ Education this week.

I'm not sure about the cable hookups, but you should get the right one to avoid any hassle.
