Does NON-TOW package Titan still have wiring harness?

We have a 2006 Titan SE. It did not have a tow package when we bought it. We installed a class IV hitch, and I know we need the relays. But I looked under the truck today and cannot find any type of wiring harness. All my other trucks have had a 4 pin connector under there, but I can't see anything under this one. I know this has probably been talked about 10,000 times, but thanks ahead of time guys.

Those relays are expensive, so go test drive a new Titan with BigTow and remove the needed relays when you get around the corner.....although I DO NOT condone that type of criminal behavior.

Also, the 06 Titan now require 3 tow relays.
That sucks. I wonder what the 3rd one is for. Just as a note, on the 04-05, only the smaller relay is needed for running lights. I picked it up at a truck store for around $20 (still way over priced for what it is.)

I have an '06 CC XE and there was a 7 PIN tucked just behind the bumer on the driver's side. The '06 takes three relays: 1. right blinker 2. left blinker
3. trailer brakes. Depending on your trailer, you may not need the trailer brake relay. I bought the OEM hitch and it came with 2 relays (trl brake & blinker). I bought the other blinker relay at the dealership for about $18.

You actually need two of the smaller relays for the lights now. One for the left side lights, and one for the right side lights. I think that was the fix for the harness recall with the fuses.

If it's anything like the 04-05, those relays are for running lights, not blinkers. My blinkers and brake lights worked just fine without any relays, just no running lights.

I think that was the fix for the harness recall with the fuses.
Wasn't that the BCM TSB?

Yeah, the one that puts a harness with fuses on 04 and 05 trucks. I think the added relay is how they corrected the problem for 06. It was an actual recall though, not just a TSB.

Edit: Also, I'm pretty sure that the 06 now needs those relays for any lights to work. Again, probley due to the fix for the recall.

I also have a 2006 Nissan Titan SE without the tow package. I also have installed a class 4 receiver hitch. I was told that i needed three relays...right blinker, left blinker and tail lights. I got mine from Courtesy Nissan. The question is now installation. Any good places to find instructions?

If it's anything like the '04-05, and I suspect it is, then it is really easy. Open the hood and look at the upper left hand corner (when looking at the bay) of the engine compartment. You'll see a black plastic relay/fuse housing just behind the battery. The cover simply pops off. On the inside of the cover is a schematic of the relay layout. Simply plug your new relays in to their respective spots. On the older trucks they were labeled Tow1 and Tow2 IIRC.

We bought our '04 as without the BT package - the only other one on the lot was $5,000 more and it had it. So we made it a condition of the sale.

It can be installed for you.

Hope this helps.

I just had some wiring work done to my 05 kc non bt the dealer took off a 4 flat plug they had u-haul install and put on a 7 round I plugged in my camper all lights work and the blinkers work I have no relays in the box ???

The elec. problem I was having was the brake fuse kept blowing when I pushed on the brake was told their was a short in the main harness where it passes through the fire wall .

Sounds to me like they didn't use the factory installed wiring then. They just tapped into the trucks tail lights. I would also question the brake thing. It doesn't sound to me like they used any of the OEM wiring. It sounds like they ran all there own wiring for the install. You should check up under the rear bumper and see if the OEM harness is still tucked up under there. Also see if the OEM brake controller harness is still tucked up under the dash.

It looks like they cut the plug off and wired the 7 round direct I think I should call the dealer to make sure what they did. I still have the brake box hook-up under the dash. I'm hoping I can get away with just plugging in the brake box and off I go ( with the relay in place)

On this subject;
I just had the wiring service done on my 04 XE and while there I wanted a controller hard wired as I don't have a white plug-in for the harness. Are you sitting down? They quoted me 246.00 to hard wire MY controller and MY harness!!!! Looks like I need some instructions and location for the 4 factory wires so I can splice my own. any help appreciated.
