Time for an oil change. The last 2 times I've use Castrol Syntec because it was on sale.

I was thinking Mobil 1 or Royal Purple this time. Any input or suggestions?

anytype of synthetic and you should be good for a daily driver. But if you are more offroad or racing, i'd go with royal purple.

Any synthetic is good. I'm pretty sure Mobil 1 with a Mobil 1 filter isthe most popular around here.

Been running Royal Purple 5w-30 for a while now and love it give it a try man.

No worries. Most of the synthetics produce no ill effects when you switch from brand to brand.

At the end of the day any good synthetic does the job. Modern oils have lower levels of ZDDP to extend catalytic converter life. Most people really over think oil changes etc. I use Mobil 1 and a Mobil 1 EP filter in my street vehicles. I change it once a year or every 10k which ever comes first.

In my race car I run Amsoil 10w40 and change it every 3 track weekends.

The people who obsess over oil and oil changes on oil fourms make me laugh. Most all people will get rid of a car before the engine wears out so in reality so long as you change the oil regularly what does it matter ;)

Went with Royal Purple. Was only .50 cents more a quart, $3 more total.

I normally go with a Fram Tough Guard. I decided to get a Mobil 1 oil filter. Was twice as much but figured I'd try it.

Not to beat a dead horse... Just curious as to what oil filter everyone uses?

I use a NAPA Gold filter every oil change:teethmast

I use fram tough guard (what ever the gold one is)

1blktitan, I have not physically confirmed, but Napa loves to put bypass tubes in their filters. So when when the oil is cold or the filter starts to gunk up, there is no filtration anymore. Found out the hard way on my ford pickup. Napa replaced my motor.

^ Filters are supposed to have by-pass valves. It will save your motor if you don't change the oil and the filter gets clogged. It's better to have unfiltered oil flowing than no oil pressure.

I used Mobil 1 EP w/M1 filter for a couple yrs, then switched to Pennzoil platinum for about a yr and a half and got a good deal on 5 or 6 OEM filters, but last week I switched back to regular synthetic M1 5w-30 (still have 3 OEM filters too, and I may be changing back to M1 filters after they run out). I mostly switched back because M1 is always on sale at WalMart, making it just a couple dollars more than the Pennzoil, and I have Mobil 1 synthetic fluids in my front and rear differentials and transfer case.

Oh, and I change it twice/yr which is only around 4-5K miles for me.

I run Valveline full synthetic and filter in mine. Change it every 6k or so.

I use Royal Purple and change it every 12000. I do change the filter at 6000 though. The filter is usually a Fram Extra or Tough Guard, whichever is on sale. I did however use a K & N this time. I didn't know RP made filters. I need to try to find one.
