Be patient with the link, it is a big pdf file. You can also go to www.altomobile.com and click on accessories for a general description.

It appears to me to be similar to the JL except w/o equalization and conversion back and forth from analog to digital to analog. Also, it has remote amp(s) turn on with delay and with line driver to increase the signal level to your amp(s). The speaker out level for the RF head unit (which is before the RF amp) is extremely low. I am currently using a pre-amp and am still lucky if it gets up to 2V.

That looks pretty neat. It probably works ok. Its to bad they didnt make it with 3 preamp outputs.... They went throuh all the trouble of making it why not add one more. Even lower priced head units have a dedicated sub output now.

What would be the point of that? It's for connecting to the OEM HU.

Even if you are controlling it off of your stock head unit they could have wired a remote to control the level of the sub. If you have a amp with a level control I guess you could do it that way but it would be nice to have a dedicated out for just the sub channel.

X2

They shold have put one with crossover and subsonic filter and a wired remote...

The amount that JL wants for this thing is probably as much as a new headunit and a steering wheel remote control adapter. And you still wont get the quality that a good Head unit would provide you, with 3 pre-outs. And you would still have steering wheel control.

X2 AGAIN...

I tought it was going to be cheaper, $100 to $150... but no, what a surprise

$100? i don't believe the ui-4 isn't the same as the cleansweep.
the cleansweep is expected to retail in the $400 range:

I got the Audiocontrol LC6 and waiting for my amps to get here to install. I talked to one of Audiocontrols engineers out at CES in Vegas and he said this would work and gave me his card if I had any problems. Use to do car audio back in 1994 and still do my own installs. The cool thing with the LC6 is you can add the Factory tweeter, mid and the sub from a factory system (HU) and combine the RCA outputs from the LC6 and combine all frequencies out to your aftermarket amp. I am also using some of there EQ's and Processors. Will post pics and let everyone know how it goes. Hating the RF factory system! Down load the LC6 manual @ Audiocontrol.com and you can see what I'm talking about. Bought off of Ebay for $130.

i think everyone's missing the point of the cleansweep; it's not just a LOC. it's main purpose for existence is for those who want to keep a stock appearance in their vehicle and still be able to install high end gear; the problem is that many oem decks include non-defeatable variable equalization curves (there's been much talk on some car audio boards about the sound quality of many oem decks actually being better than most aftermarket decks, once you account for the equalization), and the cleansweep takes care of that. it's not a simple loc- it corrects the frequency response.

I see what your saying. But you can use the LC6 http://www.audiocontrol.com/PDF/OwnersManuals/MobileAudio/LC6_OM.pdf and get matched levels and with the proper Digital EQ's from Audiocontrol and an RTA (Real time analyzer) I can "defeat" those factory curves by adjusting the one third octive EQ with the use of a pink noise gererator CD and the RTA. I am not losing the steering controls, NAV, Factory DVD and all the concerns everyone else has and I will be installing next week and not waiting on JL. LC6 to Audiocontrol DQT 24 bit digital one-third octave EQ into Audiocontrol DXS 24 db three way x-over into 2 XTANT amps. Quart 6x9 seperates front, Quart "Q" series back & 2 10" Earthquake subs. Also adding Music Keg and XM.

You can do everything the CleanSweep does without it. But it will cost you. To match the performance of the CleanSweep you would need four 30 band EQ's (one per channel). You could analyze the output per channel with an RTA (if you had one) and adjust the EQ to flatten the response. Once you're done though, you can never touch the volume. Some of the equalization is volume-dependent.
Retail price of Method 1: $1200 (if you already owned an RTA)
Plus cost of LC6
Retail Price of CleanSweep: $399
All you need to do to set up the CleanSweep is place the supplied calibration disk into the deck and push the "Calibrate" button. Twenty seconds later, your done.
CleanSweep offers:
Four 30 band EQ's (oner per channel)
8 volt line driver
Aux input (add iPod, Sat radio, Video etc)
The LC6 is an excellent unit and we recommend using it in conjuction with CleanSweep for it's summing capabilities in vehicles that do not have full-range signal. If you do not have full range signal, the CleanSweep will tell you.
The CleanSweep is patent-pending and is on target for a late May shipping. Local availabilty will vary.
